I'm a conservative and plan on voting for Donald Trump the way it seems right now.

I know it's early. But there are quite a few Democrat party candidates either declared or likely to declare to run in 2020.

So - who do you favor right now and why.

At this point I'd probably vote for a yellow dog in the general election. That being said, for the primaries I'm liking either Senator Warren or Governor Inslee. I like Senator Warren because she is putting out a whole bunch of interesting policy ideas. I like Governor Inslee because he had high level executive experience. I think they both have a shot depending on what the primary campaign issue becomes. Warren is good for an economic populist perspective, and Governor Inslee will be good if the key issue becomes the environment.

It takes time to research candidates thoroughly, so I may wait until the field has narrowed to 4 or 5 candidates until I start picking someone -- our state's primary is pretty late in the season. I'm seriously considering Cory Booker, who is one of my senators, and who also served well as mayor of Newark.

This time, I'd vote for a pile of rotting banana peels if the Democrats put it on the ticket.

In the primary, I favor Sanders.

I would too. However, I don't think I'll vote for Sanders again. It's no offense to him, but I think he's getting too old to be effective in politics for much longer. I prefer a liberal Democrat or a strong Third Party candidate who is younger (mid-forties or a little older). I have an opinion on the diversity among the upcoming presidential candidates too, but that opinion tends to touch a few raw nerves. I want presidential candidates who will represent the current diverse demographics in this country.

That's cool. I'd vote for any of them (and with more enthusiasm than for the banana peels). I experience some anxiety about the ultimate togetherness of some of those candidates, not because of their backgrounds but because there is a tendency to push fluff in these circumstances. But sure.
