There should be no fixed age for confirmation - it turns it from something spiritual to a check mark.

The end result is always the same regardless of age listed - some follow Jesus, and some don't.

One thing this highlights though is the Church's view that if we just tamper with the system we can make improvements. This does not work - there is no system that creates conversion - that only comes by encounter with the living Jesus. That's what we need to be teaching, and showing.

We need to teach like Jesus did, and follow Him. In the RCC I attend this ain't happening yet.

The statistics showed that six out of ten baptized Catholics who dropped out received no catechesis.

We have to make a cultural change where religious education isn't just something you do when the age for first communion and confirmation come around. It needs to be every year for every child, including parental involvement.

Yes - for a Church that is supposed to be the Church - there has been such a total loss of this.

It's like McDonald's that forgot to make burgers.

There is something truly gone wrong here - but my question is how far do you have to go back to find a time when they got it right?
