How AWESOME is this! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I thought that I would share my experience with you because you may be able to use something, who knows. I do wish you the best and this really is a day to rejoice!
I turned my back on Christ when I was 15 (though He never left me) after the Army decided to move my family after my freshman year of High School. When I was 29 He woke me up one Sunday morning and said, “go to church”. I was back living in Colorado where I grew up and went back to the same church I grew up in. I felt like I did not know anything except Christ and Him crucified! The second thing that I did after starting back to church was to start reading the bible every day. I found that I had a lot of questions that I wanted answered and knew I could only find them in the bible. I started developing my prayer life, too! I could hear from God through the bible and fellow believers at church and talk to Him through prayer. One of the hardest things that I had to do was give up many of the friends that I had who had a bad influence on me. I tried to lead them to Christ, by most of them just laughed at me. Oh well, the seed is planted!
At the time I wanted to be married more than anything else (I was rather old and wasn’t getting any younger). However, what He taught me was that I had a lot of things in my life that I needed to shed off before I was ready for a wife. For instance, I worked all the time, including Sundays, never tithed, went out to clubs, and drank alcohol. I found that I needed to be “married” to Christ and learn how to be faithful to Him first before I could be faithful to a woman. I spent the next three years with my eyes on Him and His Word. Before I knew it, I found the woman of my dreams! We had our rehearsal dinner (did not plan this) exactly four years to the day from when the Holy Spirit called me back! We have now been married for 12 years and have four children. I love her more today than I did the day I married her.
Again, I know that this is “my story”, but maybe you can use something. May God Bless you and keep you…
