We hear it all the time. Even on this forum. Doing a search reveals numerous examples of people using that verse to argue for strange charismatic 'manifestations'. (I only went through 6 out of 23 pages of results)

Feeling the Holy Spirit like a breeze on your skin?

Kundalini, vitalism, Qi, Wu Qin Xi, Qudra vs. Holy Spirit

hpw do discern the holy spirit from the other voices in my head?

Dream of being slain in the Spirit

Speaking in tongues questions

Doubting - spiritual gift

Why can't I receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit?
So you managed to find some peripheral craziness off in a corner somewhere and now you are falsely accusing ALL Pentecostals and Charismatics of it? Sounds like religious bigotry to me.

You anti-tongues folks are very organized. What do you hope to accomplish other than tearing the body of Christ to shreds?

From what i have seen. Yes. Tongues today is just gobbledegook. You dont know what you are uttering. You have no interpreter.
I don't understand your concern. Or perhaps you aren't concerned? I understand just fine with no interpretation needed. I trust God, don't you?

Lying? No, it was a legitimate question.

You think Paul was unsure if he was an apostle or had seen the Lord, and was asking the Corinthians? ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

No, the way those rhetorical questions are asked ("Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord?") means the implied answer is obviously Yes of course he is free; Yes of course he is an apostle; and Yes of course he has seen the Lord.

I think the "seen" is rhetorical. He was blinded by a light. I don't think he saw Jesus. He spoke to him. Other than that... not so much. He had to ask who it was. (he couldn't see)

No, I was rebutting your claim that charismatics don't use Luke 11:9-12 to legitimize their unbiblical practices.

We aim to rebuke the false teaching and unbiblical practices that have contaminated the Church in the last few decades. The tearing of the body of Christ is done by the charismatic movement. Countless churches have literally been torn into two after infiltration by the movement.

Where did I claim that?
What were you saying earlier about false accusations? Listen to you.

Sounds like what you are doing on this forum. Infiltrating. How is your "rebuking" helping the body of Christ?

You can "think" what you like, but Paul says he has seen the Lord, using the normal word for seeing with the eyes (ἑώρακα).

Exactly! paul wa snot saying that spoke with tongues such as those, but just tp make his main point of love as highest gift!
Please don't hide out, refute this last post #724 of mine according to your 'more excellent' comprehension of scripture Please. Such a statement shouldn't be so hard for you, should it?

Love is no more a gift of the Spirit, than tongues is a fruit of the Spirit. :doh:That's why tongues, prophecy and knowledge shall pass away....they are only for the purpose of producing fruit. The fruit is everlasting, the tools to cultivate it will be of no use then. THEN. THEN! Show me one verse in your infallible bible that even has the words 'gift' and 'love' in it.

BTW, that's also why "the PERFECT" hasn't come. Your knowledge is far from perfect because what you know is only "in part".....just like us.

The account of the actual event says otherwise. So, what is the truth?

I said charismatics use Luke 11:9-12 (praying for something) to legitimize their unbiblical practices. To which you denied by saying you had never heard anyone pray for any of the things. So I provided numerous examples where people had used that verse to justify their behavior.

You lied about me here and here.
Looks like direct quotes to me.
So, if you don't agree with something that makes it a lie? Or if you think you were misquoted that makes it a lie? That's pretty lame. You should what a lie actually is before falsely accusing others of lying. I've called you on several in the last few pages. (false accusations) What you would call lies, I suppose.

How does that equate to lying? I disagreed with you. I still disagree with you. Where is the lie in that? You must be losing the argument to resort to such childish antics.
