first -yes we do need to use strong language and make the trumpet sound very clear .people are after all going to burn in hell if they do not repent of so many things . so it is not loving to suger coat it . the lord never sugar coated matters of truth and sin and repentance and nor should we .I agree that the NT church isn't under the obligation to tithe.
I personally find the language used above too strong to condemn those who do teach tithing. Tho I can certainly understand a view that they aren't living by faith and are under the law.
I also think we have to be careful about taking some of the specifics about how the Jerusalem church sold property and gave the money to the poor as an example that is almost a command for us today. After all they had the words of Jesus that the temple would be destroyed and if so surely all property in Jerusalem ... and therefore become worthless. So much better to sell before the value of property went almost to zero. We aren't told that this happened in the other churches mentioned in the NT. Even so it appears they sold too soon and became poor as Paul is collecting money from the Gentile churches to help the poor Chrisitans in Jerusalem.
he was saying that the greater blesses the lesser ,,you will note he does not go into a summary saying "there for thou shalt tithe " .. why not ? because your plucking verses out and making a new topic which he is absolutely not talking about tithing , he is talking about the priestly position and function of the lord Jesus.Hebrews 7:7 Now beyond all contradiction the lesser is blessed by the better. 8 Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives.
Notice the writer speaks in the present tenses.
You were saying?
its "using " the word as a means to profit . most wont admit thats what they do because they have so many costs to meet . but most of those costs are incurred because they have built a building ,got into debt and claim its a "vision" they are following . but i don't see any scriptural basis to "go to the world banks for money and become a servant to the lender " so i greatly doubt it was ever the lord telling them to do itInstead of asking tithes for the pastor himself why are pastors asking tithes for God?
God doesn't need our money!
