oh no LOL.Sounds like a cool church. My original intention was not made clear. When i mentioned clamor i was referring not to music but to our contentious debates.
I was listening to some 80's rock and it sounded like a bunch of noise. It got me thinking about what sounds good to God? Paul teaches us that love is a sweet smelling aroma to God. What then sounds good to God? Does our clamoring sound like noisy symbols in a noisy rock band? Does God turn the station when He hears our noise? What is a joyful noise?
Its all good.oh no LOL.
I'm batting a thousand so far today.
okay, in that case lol.
I think He loves it when He's the center of attention.
I think there are some who will post here who go to
church but don't know God and we should follow the
examples and guidance of Scripture to speak "as if
the very oracles of God" when we answer.
Sometimes things SEEM to be mean, yet arent at all
too. Like when Jesus called the disciples pervs (perverted)
For not having the faith to cast out that one.
He IS love, so it wasn't mean, amen?
There, i've redeemed myself.. maybe .. lol

It was my fault, i should have specified but i saw the thread going in a good direction regardless and just let it go. Its all good.Yup ... that got by us, or at least me ...
You know, sometimes families can have pretty contentious debates, at least my family can. Doesn't mean that we don't love each other. I'm sure God enjoys the sound of healthy family interaction.
Where we cross the line is if we begin to attack one another, rather than debating the issues ...

Actually i must confess that i liked the 80's. I miss the 80's. I know this sounds dumb, but you know how it is growing older, you reminisce about the good ol days.. Thats why i was listening to the 80's rock, because it takes me back. Again, i know this is dumb, but i cant help myself at times. ITs just that it sounded like a bunch of noise today, and it got me thinking.First of all, the 80s are the golden age of this nation and it's been going downhill since. Don't hate on the 80s. They rocked!

My wife and I went to a conference for preaching but the intervals were so packed with a cacophony of highly amplified electronic noise that it was hard to concentrate on the Word. The sound that comes from a heart after Him. It's not a distinct sound as we perceive, but its the attitude behind it. So some express it in different ways in different styles, but of the same Spirit.

I do wish the the organizers of special meetings would sometimes be more astute to the fact that loud cacophonies are likely to drive a certain proportion of the congregation away.I do agree, that some melodies, and even some styles, wouldn't be suitable if the desire is to be reflective and personal with God. But that's not to say that there is only one true set of melodies and styles that God is pleased with. It's hard for me to legalize something like that. But a heart after God is apparent, especially when it comes to worship. The only requirement is that its done in Spirit and Truth.
Thank God for the local churches, that we are able to be in tune with the believers and their general musical taste.

I'm just the opposite.I like brutal music outside of a church setting, but to incorporate worldly styles into church is to address worship improperly, in my opinion. I don't like churches who have bands.
