Canadian neighbors here in the Singles community, please help a clueless rascally American tourist out here? ^-^
"Express and Collector Moving Well" .... I have no idea what this phrase means. This road-speak is somehow unfamiliar to me.
(DISCLAIMER: No worries. Traffic was at a standstill at that moment. I assure you that I do not attempt to text or take pictures or something else stupid like that while moving in a car. And I do not think i am too cool to wear seatbelts. ^-^ )
This actually fascinates me a bit. I have noticed the maple leaf symbol next to many business names ever since I got here. In fact, the first two places I noticed off the side of the road once I crossed the border yesterday, a Wal-Mart and a Mickey D's, held the leaf symbol on their signs, as well. Could it actually be that in some ways Canadians are more patriotic than Americans? I mean, hey, that's cool, as long as you are chill enough about it that you wouldn't ever start screaming for your professional hockey players to be fired from their livelihoods if they ever simply decided one day to not stand for Canada's national anthem, but i was just wondering. ^-^
Oh, and, seriously, it just happened! I had never heard a Canadian in person speak this way before, but a girl who was assisting me in a store earlier at the Fairway Mall in Toronto said that long-vowel A sound at the end of her sentence! I thought it was either a compleyely made-up stereotype or definitely more rarely occurring than outsiders (or is it just Americans?) made it out to be! But sh3 actually said it! "Let me know if you require any assistance, EH?" You could just picture that anime trope, where the camera cuts in close to someone's upper face and the irises of their eyes flare up in response to something someone else said, happening with me at that moment.
.... I good-naturedly teased her about it. And, true to the other stereotype about innate politeness, she was bemused and took it well. It really made my day. ^-^
