• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hello, I had no idea where to put this.. But anyways, I'm writing about an intense irritation I feel whenever I hear my dad coughing. I get really furious, which is unlike me, but I just really wish he'd at least see a doctor! My sisters have told me to be patient, because at least he saw an eye doctor, and I'm trying to.. But I'm getting REALLY stressed out. It's like he's coughing EVERY second and its just too much to hear him in this constant pain! I wish he'd see a doctor, but all he does is work. :( What if he has lung cancer or something..?

 I'm sooo sorry Neari, what a quagmire of a situation. Praying for your precious dad, and for you too. may God's inexplicable grace supersede all your worries about your dad that cause the anxiety and adrenaline to pumpin'......you may in many ways be helpless in such a situation, but God isn't. Lifting your precious dad to Him, and you too, dear heart. (((hug)))

Awww, dear Lord God, we lift up our sister to you, as she is trusting in you, and yet her life is miserable. Her father is in bad condition and refusing help, and the stress on her is making her crazy .. so much that she is cursing him in her mind, the stress has worn her down, Lord. Father, we pray to ask for your intervention, because we know that you love every one of us, and you love her father too, and you don't want him to be struggling in pain this way. Heavenly Father, we just pray that you can give our sister some wisdom and opportunity to find a quiet place - somewhere that she can close her mind to all of the stressful world she is in right now, and just open the door to your presence. Father, we ask that you'll equip her with this place, whether it's a place in nature, or a public chapel, just some place that she can draw near to you and fill up with your spirit. Father, we pray that with your spirit in her, she will return to her father and bless him with your love so that your spirit can flow into him too, and bring about the actions needed for his healing. Father God, we know that love conquers all, and that you are the perfection of love, so we thank you for what you achieved through Christ, by making yourself available to us forever, so that we can draw upon your healing power in the name of Jesus. We pray that this request will meet your desire perfectly, that our sister can be empowered to victory for your glory and for the good of those who trust in you. Amen.

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

How long has he been having a cough for? If it's not related to a recent cold and if it continues for more than a month, he needs to see a doctor. A cough that doesn't go away can be a symptom of cancer.
I'm sorry for a super late response , but anyways, he's been coughing for as long as I can remember.. But it's been worse ever since somewhere last year. I asked him to see a doctor, but he says he doesn't want to, then he makes a joke to avoid the situation. Like, "Oh, Coco (a bird) doesn't see the doctor!" He's been coughing so much his eyes are blood red..

He might have a chronic cough. It doesn't have to be something serious, but he should see a doctor anyways just to be on the safe side.
