Its not what I'm saying that matters. If you'll notice, I havent made any assertions at all. I have only quoted Scriptures to you. What do you think it's saying?
What do you think this scripture is saying?

44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.

What do you think this scripture is saying?

44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.

Its clear what it says.

Why did these folks not receive the Holy Spirit when they believed?

Acts 18
24Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures.25He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervora and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.

Acts 19
1While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit whena you believed?

They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

3So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?”

“John’s baptism,” they replied.

4Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

Acts 8

When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. 15When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit,16because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

18When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money19and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”

2 Tim 1
6For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

John 3:5
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

I dont know but its clear to me that we get the anointing by hearing. The man in your scripture never heard of the spirit, so he didnt hear the Gospel message.

1 John 2:27
But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.

I believe the anointing that John mentions is the Holy Spirit.

This man needed to learn a few things, and it was through fellowship that he learned it. I believe in fellowship and learning through it. However, given all the different teaching by different denominations, i don't follow any teacher. Not to mention all the false teachers that the scriptures warn us about. I listen to others however, as i have listened to you, and i learn. Sure im a bit hard headed when it comes to my faith, but so are we all i think. I jealously Guard my faith because its my strength and peace, and joy.

Yes, and?
And he knew only the baptism of John, not of the Spirit.

Mark 4:13
Jesus asked them, "Don't you understand this story? How, then, will you understand any of the stories I use as illustrations?

Proverbs 19:27
Cease to hear instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.

It says anointing (substituded for the laying on of hands,) is given after baptism.

Forgive me...
Was that true in every circumstance?
Acts 9;17

Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.
