• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Did you know that the name Job means "attacked"? Have you ever read the book of Job? It's really relevant to all of us. One thing to really pay attention to in the book is that Job is certainly being "attacked" by "the adversary"

So look at this: John 19:10: You see how Pilate thinks he has "power" to do things? But Jesus said, "You could have no power at all against me, except it were given you from above" and we see this same thing in Job, the "adversary" has no power at all to do anything, but that power is "given to him" from God i.e. he has to ask God's permission and get God's approval. And afterward Christ says, of "all power": Matthew 28:18

Trust, faith and hope are a measurement of your state of heart toward someone. Imagine you're in the passenger's seat of a car. God is in the driver's seat as you travel along toward your destination. In long strecthes of open road you have no "lack of trust"; it's the easy spaces. But when you start traveling next to sheer cliffs, or, down a very icy road, or, a densely peopled part of the road: that's when "faith" is tested. That's when - if your faith is lacking - you may grow anxious, peering out the window to the chasm the car is moving around on the road. You may even want to, reach out and grab at the wheel crying "Look out!" and want to seize control and guide the car of your own 'will and understanding': but I'm in the back seat saying, "Quit grabbing at the wheel; He's an expert and flawless driver - we're in no danger": the only time there's real "trouble" and "danger" is when you start lacking faith in the driver, and attempt to "do things" of your own will and power (which you don't even have): it's in those times you feel "attacked" and in those times that I call out from the back seat "Quit grabbing at the wheel; sit back and relax: increase your faith"

And this is what it's really about. Increase of faith. Try to understand that there is absolutely no man in control, and no man has any power to do anything at all. Anything that you experience is "approved by God" for your own good, in order to get you to the destination, intact, and having increased your faith in relation to the "chasms", and your trust and hope in the driver.

This is why the Lord "appeared" to Job "in a whirlwind"; to demonstrate that the "whirlwind" or, as you call it the "madness" was entire at His disposal, being steered and directed by the Lord. There is no "random chaos" there is only, "order" that most misperceive as "chaos" because the order is too subtle for them to grasp. Matthew 8:24-26

Also try to think of these things as a "workout" for you spirit. No pain, no gain. Can you endure a little fire if it makes you stronger? Understand that, behind all of the "bad" is God, and that the "bad times" are, in fact, better than the "good times" in the same way that exercising is better than sitting on the ease of the couch. People often pray for God to "strengthen me" and "increase my faith" and then start wondering what is happening when "bad things" begin to occur. "Why God, why?!" Why? because you asked Him to do these things, and He's answered "I will"

But really, just let God take care of it, be strong and courageous, and dwell in faith and hope in the love of God. Don't regard any man that tries to tell you you need to "help" God by grabbing at the wheel and "doing things to help God drive"; just, sit back and relax, and know that no enemy has any power over you to do anything at all, that is not directly given to him with the approval of God for your own good.

It sounds to me like you've got a lot of good in your life, a good woman (as you say) should be all the material comfort you need, I should think. At any rate, I would advise to take everything you see (specially 'youtube') with a grain of salt. The place is a generally a cesspool of terrible reasoning leading to false accusations, finger-pointing, and fear-mongering.
