In 2014 there were 238 deaths of African Americans in altercations with Police.

That is 238 too many in my opinion. I also understand we live in a less than idealistic world and bad things happen. Cops make mistakes and people attempt to harm cops. Neither is good.

These stats fuel an entire segment of our political world and are the sources for even violence in these communities and on national TV.

The 800 pound seagull is the number of African Americans that are killed by African Americans is 2,412.

If we were to bring to and end of all deaths of African Americans by police, there would still be 2,174 African Americans being killed by their own race.

Where is the outcry? Where is the protests? Why isn't Mr. Sharpton giving $100,000 a pop speeches against this?

Will position, power and money end this?

When Martin Luther King walked on Selma, he did so with black embracing whites who came down to stand in solidarity with him. It was his non violent call to protest that raised the cause to national attention and gave voice in a way that was heard.

He had a dream that people would not be judged by the color of their skin, but the content of their character. What is missing is the content of character on BOTH sides.

The outcry about police comes from the fact that unlike black civilians, they are the ones entrusted and employed to protect the people, so when they cross that line, it is considered a much worse betrayal.

Your second part is a big reason that BLM is struggling. Many of them are just as racist as those they oppose, and their actions and attitudes are only hurting their cause.

The outcry happens every day in the neighborhoods, community meeting, and locally-produced media. I live in Baltimore and these conversations are happening all the time.

It sounds like the outcry is mostly locally dealt with, or attempting to be dealt with.

Who says no one speaks out against violence within the Black community?

Please, feel free to cite your sources. Al Sharpton certainly does not. Black Lives Matter only point to the police and ignore the 90%.

I would be exited to hear someone on a national level talk about it.

Well for one thing, Al Sharpton and BLM don't speak for the entire Black community. If they choose to ignore the efforts of rappers like KRS-One who started the Stop the Violence movement, then that is up to then but it is inaccurate to suggest no one is speaking out against violence within the Black community.

Maybe you're just not listening.

Should we not have higher expectations of our police than of common criminals? I'm not paying tax dollars to Crazy Joe to protect me.

No, I don't listen to rap - anyone else speaking out?

We should definitely higher expectations of our Police. But what do you do when Crazy Joe decides he is going to hurt someone and the Police have to use deadly force to stop him?

Take Ferguson. It has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt by several different authorities regional and federal that it was a justified use of deadly physical force. But there are still people ignoring the evidence and condemning the Police because the officer was white and the criminal was black.

I can understand the questioning of motive, but look at the actions of the citizens.

A member of your race is killed by a police officer of another race and you suspect that was the motive. The investigations start and your response is to beat up and rob a small business owner in your neighborhood who was strong arm robbed by the guy shot. To further demonstrate your resolve you systematically burn, loot and destroy your own neighborhood.

Who did you hurt, but yourself.

Man if only people like Al Sharpton have been speaking out against violence for years. oh wait... http://www.nydailynews.com/news/cri...violence-black-neighborhoods-article-1.292142

You know why you don't hear about it on a national level? Because the media doesn't cover it. Just because it's not being splashed across your TV screen doesn't mean it's not happening.

Very often remarks like this appear to have an anti-law enforcement agenda. Citing statistics that are intended to make it seem that police are hunting and killing black people only.

It's the same type of agenda that calls racism the fact that there are more black people in prison than any other race. It isn't that crime put those inmates there. It is the fact they're to be thought to be there solely because they're black. And white privileged America cages them because they're black.

Meanwhile, media rarely reports as regularly, people rarely discuss as regularly, black on black homicides. And not surprisingly, that in an atmosphere where an anti-law enforcement racist militant hate group like Black Lives Matter hopes to dismiss those black on black homicide statistics by focusing attention on how bad America is because there are police working here.

And keeping America safe from all colors who hope to prey on the weak, the vulnerable, those who have something the criminal minded want.

324,000 U.S. Blacks Killed by Blacks In Only 35 Years
These numbers represent roughly 926 blacks have been murdered every year by other blacks.

New DOJ Statistics on Race and Violent Crime
Jared Taylor, American Renaissance, July 1, 2015

NCFS-Table.jpg

....
Interestingly, we find that violent interracial crime involving blacks and Hispanics occurs in almost exactly the same proportions as black/white crime: Blacks are the attackers 82.5 percent of the time, while Hispanics are attackers only 17.5 percent of the time.

Some observers argue that what causes the overwhelming preponderance of black-on-white over white-on-black violence is “chance of encounter,” due to the fact that there are five times as many whites as blacks in the American population. However, there are only about 30 percent more Hispanics than blacks, yet black-on-Hispanic violence is almost as lopsided as black-on-white violence. This suggests blacks may be deliberately targeting both whites and Hispanics.

The 800lb. gorilla in the room is the predisposition to make black people perpetual victims of cops. Rather than holding all people responsible for their violent actions. And also, for not realizing that without police the numbers would be a lot higher than they are now.

I'd recommend people stop hoping police go away by their implications that police are the problem in America. Because God forbid they ever do American's are going to all feel what it is to be victim of hate crime perpetrated by all colors against all targets.

Well black on black crime being is obvious because you are most likely to be killed by somebody you know more than a total stranger. If you notice tiny bible's little chart white on white crime is also astronomically high.

Or maybe it is because he has done it one time in eight years
Actually I've found other examples of him doing some of that work, but even if he had only done that once, it's not like he is the leader of the Black community. There is a lot of anti-violence work going on, but you don't hear about it.

Probably the most tired myth of all time. That black people never talk about black on black crime. We do.

http://www.theatlantic.com/national...eople-protest-black-on-black-violence/255329/

You guys just don't see it because you are too busy saying it never happens at all.

This is always how it goes. Rather than addressing the corruption, harassment, and brutality of law enforcement, or the bias of the justice system, you guys are literally just changing the subject.

The truth? As the largest racial group, whites commit the majority of crimes in America. In particular, whites are responsible for the vast majority of violent crimes. With respect to aggravated assault, whites led blacks 2-1 in arrests;
in forcible-rape cases, whites led all racial and ethnic groups by more than 2-1. And in larceny theft, whites led blacks, again, more than 2-1.

The term “black on black” crime is a destructive, racialized colloquialism that perpetuates an idea that blacks are somehow more prone to violence. This is untrue and fully verifiable by FBI, DOJ andcensus (pdf) data. Yet the fallacy is so fixed that even African Americans have come to believe it.

The question of police vs. black-on-black violence is already addressed -- we pay the salaries of the police and give them extra privileges in society to perform their jobs. When some abuse their powers, we complain. When the abuses skew towards a particular racial group, we identify a systemic problem.

But you are right to identify the problem of violence within the black community. As an aside: Just for calibration, though, it's worth noting that most violence against any racial group comes from within that racial group -- blacks, whites, latinos, etc. This is probably because most violence happens between people who know each other, and most people associate primarily within their own racial group.

The question of violence within the community is being addressed... by people and sources that the African American community generally listens to! You say you don't listen to rap. Neither do I. But lots of black Americans do. So they hear the message all the time. There are also prominent black intellectuals who talk about this that they hear. Why is this so invisible to white Americans, by-and-large? The answer is that the sources of information that white Americans get is mostly different from the sources black Americans use to get their information. The sources that you and I might use to be informed don't invite the input of the people who talk about these things. I hate to be crass, but this stuff doesn't sell to white Americans. These outlets are worried we will tune out if they bring on Dr. Cornell West to talk about things that can be done and programs that can be implemented for and within black communities -- things that don't heavily impact the white community.

So these things are being talked about -- but you have to look to the sources black Americans naturally use to get their information.
