Ezekiel 16:12 And I put a ring on your nose and earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown on your head.

Genesis 24:47 Then I asked her, ‘Whose daughter are you?’ She said, ‘The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bore to him.’ So I put the ring on her nose and the bracelets on her arms.

Exodus 35:22 So they came, both men and women. All who were of a willing heart brought brooches and earrings and signet rings and armlets, all sorts of gold objects, every man dedicating an offering of gold to the Lord.

Hi there; it was certainly common practice in ancient Israel; what the first two examples also show is symbolic of truths for our learning; when by faith we are betrothed to God, so to speak, there is given a token of that betrothal by way of the indwelling Holy Spirit's seal (some commentators have seen Rebecca's earring/nose ring as symbolic of the Holy Spirit). In the case of Ezekiel 16, the description is part of what leads to the pronouncement: 'Perfect through my comeliness which I had put on thee, saith the LORD', in other words, when we are justified by faith, the covering and beauty in Christ which God gives the believer is perfect: we can't add to it or take away from it; all our works and efforts are in vain; simply what the believer is in Christ is enough for time and eternity.
