I loved the concept of this show when I heard it. However, for me, they blew it. Too creepy. Bad guys are too bad. There's a darkness about it that did not need to be there for us to get the plot and the story to be told. They need to lighten it up a little. Even something as heavy as the Lord of the Rings had an occasional moment you could chuckle at. It's a writing mistake when something is written with no light moments. A little light goes a long way. The few episodes I watched didn't have any, so they lost me.

It is Gotham. In every thing I've read or watched about Gotham it has always been a dark gothic city. If you don't have the time or don't want to read the comics then I suggest you watch a couple of the animated movies to see for yourself. Gotham is and always will be depicted as a gothic and forboding city...and that goes for the villains that live there too.

Animated DC movies to watch:
1. Batman vs Dracula
2. Batman - Under The Red Hood
3. Batman - Assault on Arkham
4. Batman - Dark Knight Returns part 1
5. Batman - Dark Knight Returns part 2
6. Batman - Year One
7. Son of Batman
8. Batman vs Robin

Gotham has some good points and bad points. I don't know if I will stick with it long term, though there is definitely some real potential. I hate it when writers insist on throwing in occasional racy scenes (which, these days usually involve gays, though not always). It shows a lack of confidence in their writing skills that they feel they need to cater to the lowest common denominator. They seem to be improving lately though, so hopefully that will continue.

It is dark, and I agree, some humour now and then would help. But the characters are fantastic, especially Penguin. And if you pay attention to the set and atmosphere, you can see that they have clearly put a LOT of thought into developing a certain feel for the show. It's a fantastic balance between old classic backdrop and current technology. That's no small accomplishment and may be the most impressive thing about the show. The cast is also excellent. I really like how they are developing the Bruce and Alfred relationship.

I've been enjoying it so far. And it seems to be getting better. It is a dark show. Just bear in mind that what it's based on is very dark to begin with. I do like seeing young Bruce Wayne blossoming into a detective with Alfred's help.

I usually watch alongside Flash and Arrow. Those are both really good.

It's interesting. Initially I thought they were moving too quickly in revealing future villains that they couldn't possibly sustain a season, but they've scaled that back considerably.

At least until this last episode where two future villains took the irreversible step in the same episode. That could have waited.

The glimpse of the nascent Joker a couple of episodes ago was interesting--but they need not to show him ever again.

I like Bruce and Selina's relationship.

I love all the characters that we will see in the future Batman.

ARROW- when Arrow was killed I stopped watching it. Thats when the story just stopped being real. Began to dislike it when he stopped killing. I fully agree with killing as a last resort, but not killing anyone, ever, is stupid, esp with the class of villians he deals with.

Flash; lost interest.

I'm still watching Flash, but I get exasperated by how dumb Barry Allen is. For instance, how can someone who can stop a bullet in flight ever be caught off-guard while in the middle of a fight? It should be a standing tactical rule: When engaged with a bad guy, never stop moving so fast that he's not standing still.

Yes, exactly! I still watch it, but find it pretty silly. All the characters are pretty stupid and the story lines are embarrassingly full of holes. But it's fun for a while. I don't know that it will last long. It's too bad it's not better written, because it's nice to have a lighter comic book show compared to Gotham or Arrow.

Arrow I really enjoy. I wasn't sure I'd stick with it after the first season because it was so soapy. But now it's really grown into a more complex comic book story. I suspect they reformed Oliver to "not a killer anymore" because it was pretty dark when he was killing so much. It's hard to cheer for a hero who takes lives so easily, even if they are bad guys.
