Beautiful Chruch.

This past summer, my Church, Lutheran Chruch Canada held it's national Convention in Vancouver British Columbia. Since we did not have a parish Chruch large enough to accommodate all of our delegates, our dear Catholic brothers and sister in Christ graciously loaned us their Cathedral. This is a video of the opening service at Holy Rosary Cathedral.

The liturgy used for this service is Divine Service II from Lutheran Service book, a relatively recent setting of the Mass which borrows from the Liturgy of St. John Chrisostom. The first hour is the Liturgy of the Word; the Liturgy of the Sacrament begins at about 1:03.

But it is a Lutheran rubric that customs need not be the same everywhere, and as a result, Lutheran worship may be quite different elsewhere.

It says "Orthodox Ash Wednesday" in the video title, but that doesn't appear to be an Eastern Orthodox service to me. There are altar rails, and kneeling plus I am pretty sure that there is no Ash Wednesday in the East.

Any idea what denomination this is?

It's the Orthodox Western Rite - both ROCOR and the Antiochian Orthodox [ meaning Eastern , as we think of them ] have them

Ahhh...so this is what Western Rite Orthodoxy looks like. Wow, it is far more "Western" then I imagined it would be.
