All possible translations of Isaiah 25:6

"On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine-- the best of meats and the finest of wines."
Isaiah 25:6

This verse troubles me as I would think that there would be no death in the coming Kingdom. The presence of "meat" seems to contradict this. Is there a correct translation that doesn't bring death into the coming kingdom?

I guess the word שמנים could be read as "oils" instead of "fats" (that is, "meats"). I don't think it matters, since Ezekiel already tells us that there will be animal sacrifices at that time.

Thanks but I have already gotten that fair with the word meanings. The problem becomes that the verse means then.
Not so sure about your interpretation if Ezekiel. Sacrifice began in the Garden of Eden and ended at the cross. Ezekiel's vision is just that - a vision.

If you take Ezekiel as non-literal, why not take Isaiah as non-literal, too? I mean, perhaps none of the Bible is literal and can all be explained some other way.

The traditional Jewish view accords with the literal reading of the verses - that the coming of the Messiah will be accompanied by the rebuilding of a functional temple in Jerusalem, and sacrifices will be made in the temple both for Jews and for non-Jews. Jerusalem will contain the house in which God meets with mankind, and that will include sacrifices.

Here is the actual translation:

Isa 25:6 And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all nations a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the dregs, of fat things to be blotted out [H4229], of wines on the dregs well refined.

משתה feast, banquet;שמנים adj. fat, fattened;משקע nm. dregs, residue;ממחים to be blotted out;מזקקים refined, purified

ועשה יהוה צבאות לכל-העמים בהר הזה משתה שמנים משתה שמרים שמנים ממחים שמרים מזקקים

The dregs sediment, are something worthless.

Can't the Almighty create something to be as anything He wishes? Wasn't manna given taste? I think fat is what gives the umami to anything, so that fits for me.

The unpointed שמן could be read either as shemen (oil) or shuman (fat). The normal word used in the Torah for animal fat is חלב chelev, not שומן shuman. There's no reason why we couldn't necessarily understand the text here to say "oils" instead of "fats."

There will be "meat" because it is a metaphor for "a real experience"
"fleshly" experience, if one wants to think of it that way.

Whether or not we will get to kill a cow and have a cook-out...
I'd rather just not care too much. Even though I do love hamburgers.
