• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi All,

Just wondering about how you're doing with a diabetic diet, or are you. I've found that I do well with it when I'm not home, but when I'm home I really struggle to manage it and eat as I should.

Anyone else doing well or struggling? A What works for you when you're at home?

I believe im a type 1. I love my fruits
And lean meats, and lots veg.s. the main thing i believe is important is to keep to a minimal of the sugar content.
And always stay active. avoid cooking with oils. and eating close to bedtime.
how r u coping with diabetes?? What type r u?? kristen :) hey btw. :)

I eat a fruit-based diet for diabetes, which means I eat mostly fruit for calories and then raw veggies as well. My diabetes is in the best control ever (yes, hard for people to believe) and my diabetic retinopathy is reversing. My last A1c was 5.6. I make YouTube videos about it; you can find me by looking up "HealthySkinnyBeauty".

I started out on a very hard core diabetic diet 5.5 months ago because I was diagnosed as a type 2. Now I just eat what I want, when I want but I monitor my blood sugar very closely and if I have a sugar "spike" I take fast acting insulin to offset it- like ice cream= 3 units of insulin.

I have been a Type 2 Diabetic for years and fought the A1C scale - I was up to 10.3 - my doctor threatened me with insulin - but tried a new drug that was out to see what it would do. I'm not good at sticking to a strict diet - with this new pill my A1C after 3 months is 7.9 - you might want to ask your doctor about it - it is Tradjenta 5MG - The numbness in my legs have also gotten much better.

Wow; diabetics on fruit? Seems awfully hi-sugar...but whatever works.
I got my father off of insulin (and all prescription drugs; at 76!) by listening to this guy,
jackchallem.com The Nutrition Reporter Home Page
prolly a rerun for many of you? Sorry, I'm ten posts shy of linking!
Be blessed.
