anyone here dealt with the kind of dilemma faced by Joseph in the bible?

lets say years ago, you dealt with this person in the authority who f you up, and years later fate deliver this person into your hand, except that this time you are in the authority position, how did you overcame the temptation to return the favour?
Get right with God!

Just the fact that you know God has been merciful to you and delivered
you from evil, this alone should be a strong motivation for you to do the same for others.

Jesus taught us to LOVE and PRAY for our enemies, to DO GOOD to those
who use us, hate us, despise us and who seek to harm us just as He did for all of us
as no one deserves the love, forgiveness, mercy, kindness and blessing of
God as He took our sin on Himself and became accursed so that we could be blessed.

I think the answer is: Do what Joseph did in the Bible when he revealed himself to his brothers.

you mean " I am going to put you in hell and back in a way you'll never know" ?

just kidding

yes, you are right, Joseph set a Godly example for us to follow

and we need to behave like people of God:)

Remember all the crud you have done, that God forgave you for.

Then remember that God forgives you to the same extent that you forgive others.

And then, since life has obviously been better to you than to that person, thank them. After all, their actions are a part of what put you where you are.

Then thank God for showing you how to give grace, and totally drop it. I would never bring it up to that person again. It's in the past. Let it be.

*During the times I was being "oppressed" by folks I was
telling God all about my troubles and praying for strength to
get through those tough times and for the Lord to help me
forgive them and teach me how to show mercy/grace.

When I was in the position of "authority" I showed mercy to
the persons who had "oppressed" me, as some of you may
recall two of those people were my ex-husband and his new wife.

To add to what others said I think that how to deal depends on the situation, like what kind of authority, however forgiveness is a must in every situation because if we do not forgive we may become blind about the good things in the other people.

And when you are not in an authority position the situation is much more difficult than if you are in an authority position, so I am interested to know how did you deal with that person when you were not in the authority?

Well, Joseph did send his brothers to hell and back, but it wasn't for revenge. He wanted to see Benjamin again before he 'blew his cover'.

I assume that A, this person has not been responsible for caring for your favorite brother for the last twenty years, and B, that this person does in fact know who you are, so there's no 'cover' to blow.

So don't plant evidence on him and have him arrested for stealing. Just sayin'. ;)

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

"Do not render evil for evil."

"forgive and you will be forgiven."

I think that just about covers it.....although it would be advisable for you to pray to GOD and his son JESUS for removal of resentment, bitterness, and unforgiveness you might have towards this person.

Praise be to GOD the heavenly father and his son lord JESUS CHRIST forever>>>>>>>>>>>

"Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.""

Every time you are betrayed and sinned against, they are directly sinning not just against you but to God. They don't know that they are actually crucifying Jesus in the process. Yet Jesus still forgive all of man's sins. So should we.

That is interesting and I have a question if you do not mind, it happens sometimes that a person thinks that he/she is an innocent and that the other people are persecuting him when they give him an advice to help him to change his bad behavior, but that person is not grown much in the spirit and he does not see that he/she does anything wrong and he thinks that the other people are persecuting him for Jesus too.

What do you think?
