Yeah, I don't like the sun, but I also have to be careful because skin cancer runs rampant in my family. I much prefer winter, but it kind of skipped us the last couple of years--I really want my snow. I have a love/hate relationship with Colorado. I've been here since I was six because my Dad was stationed at Petersen Air Force base and we livd here for seven years, then we moved to Virginia for two and a half years, but I hated it because I missed my mountains. We came back here and I've been here ever since. My husband wants to move to Florida next Summer and I was all for it, because I want to leave here, but after all this happened, my attachment has come back and I don't want to go anywhere, I just want to move back over to the West side (not mountain shadows because we can't afford it, but there's another area close by where we lived that is cheap and still right up against the foot hills---yeah I know I'm crazy)

If it was up to me, there would only be two seaons--spring and fall. You can have both summer and winter. It's funny that when it is so cold in the winter, I can't wait for summer, but then summer comes and I would like at least fall again, if not winter! I would like 6 months of spring and 6 months of fall.

Oh neat. :D I've been to certain parts of Washington state too and I do agree. It is gorgeous especially the coast. Sounds like a good drive. I've only been to Washington state and was in Michigan just a little. It was dead of winter and basically all I saw was snow and highway. There was lots of snow that year.
Yeah, many feet of snow fell in the Spokane, WA area, the next winter, when we'd moved to CO, and we had barely anything. Maybe a trace of the white stuff. ^_^ We were looking forward to some good blizzards, but the three blizzards that came through the Springs in 2006/2007, we were not there yet. We moved here in June 2007. So far, as I've said, we're lucky to get 4 inches of snow at one snowfall in our area. We get even less than the Springs, which usually gets a couple inches more than us, but still, really, it's pitiful. People think Colorado is snow country. Yeah, if you live up in the mountains maybe, but even there the past few years, hasn't been very much. We went up to a park in the mountains close to our home to find some good sledding hills. This was a couple years ago. We got up there, and the lady at the park entrance said there wasn't enough snow on the ground for skiing or sledding. We came back a week or so later when it snowed again, and there were a few inches more, but still not much, but we got our exhausting sledding in. I hadn't sledded since I was 18, and I tell you, it is darn tiring climbing up the hill every time, for a 30-50 second thrill ride down a hill!

Winters were good in Spokane, Wa area. We always had snow the 4 years we lived there. :)

I like 4 seasons. I like to see the changes in nature. The changes in the colors on the trees, the greens of the grass and such, the flowers bloom. I like seeing the glistening snow in winter, and the hot, sunny days in the summer. What would be perfect to me is 3 months of each season. By the time March comes around, I'm sick of winter. I'm ready for summer by the end of April. Ready for fall by the end of August. Ready for winter by the end of November. :D

As of 4:00 press conference: Containment is up to 45%. YAY! The area of Green Mtn Falls is having invasion of bears. Poor things. Probably from trying to flee also from the fires! Can you blame them?! More housing areas are being lifted from mandatory evac. to return tomorrow to their homes...utilities working on power and such.

Also, no other deaths. Just the two, which is bad enough.

Twenty-two burglaries in evacuated housing developments.

Fire damage cost: $8.8 million dollars.

22 burglaries...unreal. there's probably more looting in Colorado than the entire nation of Japan during the nuclear meltdown....why this country has so much of this...sad

It is sad. There always seems to be some scammers out during natural disasters. I mean, not only the looting, but a couple days ago, people were posing as Care and Share and Red Cross workers, knocking on people's doors for their donations. Several times, the news anchors had to tell CO residents to not give anything to these people, and that the folks at Care and Share and Red Cross have drop off places only. Ugh.

I wouldn't mind having just autumn and winter. We better be getting blizzards everyday this year

lol :D Considering the temperatures here, I'd be happy with 5 months of summer, 5 months of fall, 1 month of spring and 1 month of winter. I need that one month of winter during Christmas to have a nice snowy white Christmas.

Ah okay. I thought you got more snow. Yes, you'd think there would be significantly more in the mountain area. The times I've been to Washington state were spring and fall so I'm not familiar with their winters at all. Neat...I like hearing about other places etc. :)

Yes, sledding is fun but a whole lot of exercise. It's been years since I've sledded. Still, that zing down the hill really is a blast...Don't you think? A few years back I went skidooing and we were pulled around on a big tire tube on the frozen lake. Now that's a riot. :p It really is a lot of fun. Winter has it's good points.

lol I know what you mean in regards to getting sick of winter. I don't like being cold. I too love the colours of autumn. The irony is that orange is my least favourite colour but I do love taking autumn pictures...beautiful. ;)

That's great there's more containment. It's annoying how some take advantage of the down trodden. :sigh:

Yeah. I've been told that sometimes when the summers are scorchers, the winters are more wintery = snowy. I hope and pray so!!!!

Sounds cool, but I'd just worry a bit about the lake's ice cracking. ^_^ The last time I was on a frozen lake, was when I ice skated with double blades on my skates when I was three years old. :p

Please pray for us because tomorrow my husband and I are going with my mil to her house. We will have to drive past all the devastation to get there. I am trying to prepare myself. If they let us, I will take pictures. I am really helping this will bring some closure. My mil is definitely feeling survivor-guilt
