Yep. I hear ya. I think what's worse is that you can't LOSE THE WEIGHT as easily! I've always put on weight, but always lost it fast with just modest adjustments. 8 years ago, I could just cut back a little, make a few better choices, and I'd lose 5 lbs. in a week, no sweat. Now I work my butt off, walk 2 miles a night, cut my portions back, eliminate certain choices, and I lose 0.5 lbs to 1lb if I'm lucky.....

Yep, yep, size 36 waist at age 20, size 40 at age 28, size 42 at age 36....good times! ^_^

Any one else reach that secret age of 30 years old, and start struggling with weight gain. I used to be so skinny, like a size 4 back when I was 28, 29, even up to 30! Now I am 34, and I am a size 10/12, and dieting has not been helping :-(

I just turned 30 this year and my weight has spiked.

Now I have other reasons why it spiked. I quit smoking so I eat more and I drink beer a good amount of time.

It didn't dawn on me till I have noticed that my jeans are getting tighter. Now grant it, this is the best I have ever looked because I was always so skinny before. I am 6'4" so the height controls it to be quite honest but now I am noticing it. Everybody around me is telling me you aren't fat. Being this tall, I can agree with them. I just have noticed things I have never noticed before and that is mixed in with the increasing weight gain.

Now I am starting to think I need to start working out more so that my lil pregger belly can go away and the jeans I have I don't have give up on and then when I am being lazy and most of my laundry is dirty, I don't have to unbutton a pair of pants to be lazy in till the next day so I can be comfortable.

Same here. At 18, I was under 100. Mid 20s, balanced at 120 to 124. Now after getting married and turning 30+, I can't keep it below 150. And much of it's the padding in the front, unfortunately. Strength training on the abs does nothing, and the elliptical has given no results so far.

I hear ya, sis, I hear ya.

I am very happy I came across this thread. lol I'm going to be 32 in February and I have struggled since hitting 30 as well. After my two kids I had in my early and mid 20's I was able to lose weight pretty easily. Now after my third I have had such a hard time. I can work my butt off with little results. I've been stuck in a 12 for months while I watch the weight just melt off my sister in law who is in her early 20's. I've been doing weight watchers, but really only do well for the first few weeks and then I plateau. It's pretty frustrating. The joys of 30! :)

I completely hear you, I'm 29 and have never struggled with my weight. I was around 110 lbs, sometimes under that and now I'm 121 lbs and nothing I'm doing is working to lose weight. I diet, exercise, portion control. I've always been a couch potato and never had an issue, now I'm doing more exercise than I ever did before and nothing is happening.

I do know the weight has come on as a side effect from medication I take but I'm in between a rock and a hard place, stop taking the medication and I might lose weight but the symptoms will come back or keep taking it and gain weight!

I don't know if it's the age issue, but it was never this hard to lose weight, I can't imagine it will even drop unless I do something drastic and do hours and hours of exercise every day.

I know I'm still at a completely healthy weight range but many of my clothes don't fit and I've had to start going up a size, not a place I wanted to be really.

Yeah, weight is tougher to lose now that I'm 30. I have hormone issues that make it tough as well. :) For me, though, the biggest change that I noticed is that I can't eat the way I used to. When I was a teenager, I could live on vending machine food, soda and no sleep and still feel fine. Now, if I don't get good food at regular intervals, I feel AWFUL!!!
