And, my God, how much have I forgotten!:eek: :(

I'm actually using this for aid. There are multiple mysteries? Or maybe I had just forgotten them, but all this looks so new, aside from the Our Father, Hail Mary, Apostle's Creed and Glory Be.

Today and the first week are going to bumpy...but have to get back in the habit.

This site helped me learn. Its quite helpful because it is an interactive rosary and you click on the different parts and it says which prayers are to be said on which beads, etc. It is from a more traditional Catholic source since it only includes the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries.

Hope it helps! :)

I don't get it.

I'm definitely starting my Lent with the holy Rosary today. I prayed it at work on my lunch break, alone in my classroom. Having been in the Orthodox Church for a while now, I decided to go to Mass today at my old Catholic parish and start the Lenten discipline. The rosary is always powerful. It was a great blessing to see my little daughter, Veronica, starting to pray it, too! She's already learning it!

It can be a struggle....to focus. I think in this day and age, with cellphones, texting, internet anytime anywhere, overstimulation, and bombastic media, it's tougher to lead the quiet life and just pray the rosary.

I tell myself that I won't pray it perfectly but to try to focus on certain parts. When I pray the Hail Mary, for example, I focus on the "blessed art though among women" on one beed, how tremendously blessed the BVM is to have been chosen to carry the Son of Man, our salvation.

Then on another beed I concentrate on "pray for us sinners, now..." to ask Mary's help to bring me in line with the Lord NOW!

Then on another beed I concentrate on "and at the hour of our death" linking it to mortality and "thou art dust..." etc.

I think it helps to focus on some things knowing you're only human and might drift mentally. We lead busy lives. The Lord knows that. But He wants us to grow spiritually and we can do that by focusing on key things related to our salvation. The rosary really covers it all!

I understand that. I took to the Divine Mercy like a duck to water. I just don't understand why I struggle with the rosary so much.

Asked my mom for a rosary and she wanted to give me hers (With wooden beads) but I wanted one of my own, and of course, the crucifix was off it. I did fix it, however.

I actually used the Bible to read each decade that fell under the "Glorious Mysteries." I'll still use the Bible until I reach the other three, but I love to meditate when announcing the decade in my head. I'd like to do it when it's dark and nothing but a lit candle in the room, but I need the light to read.

A little bit of a struggle but it's like getting back on a bike after a few years of not riding. Curious to see if both my mom and dad will do the mysteries with me: She prays the "normal version...."

Cut me some slack here, guys.

Let's be honest. The Rosary is strange. It's a set of prayers dominated quantitatively by the Hail Mary and originally designed for ignorant, uneducated peasants to pretend to pray the Liturgy of the Hours. Think about that for a second. Monastic superiority aside, it's connected to many visions and revelations, some of which have been disavowed by the Church as questionable or dangerous. Still, the beast rolls on. For me, it's just another way to feel Mary holding me like her baby as I am, at all times. Other times, I just like to worship her as my goddess. Wait, that's not right...

By the way, sorry for resurrecting this thread. I saw the recent months in the posts and didn't realize it was 2012 instead of 2013. Mea maxima culpa.

Me either. Actually, it's all the Hail Marying I don't get. If she is really pointing to her son - shouldn't it be something like 10 Our Fathers or Oh My Jesus' to 1 Hail Mary?

I also tried to learn it. But so far, I still couldn't pray it without aids.
It is really a nice prayer, very meditative.
Maybe I'll start going to the May rosary-prayers in our parish with my grandma.

If you got AIDS from the Rosary, you're doing it wrong...
