yeshuasavedme:
There are MANY ways to conclusively prove that "the woman/harlot" is Jerusalem, but I'll just start with two of them for now and then add further commentary as time allows me to.
Revelation 17:6-7
"And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns."
Again, the angel clearly makes a distinction between THE WOMAN/harlot who is riding the beast and the beast that carries her. They are NOT one and the same. After describing to John what the beast is like, the angel says the following in relation to the woman:
Revelation 17:18
"And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth."
Okay. Here are two identifiers of the woman:
1. She is drunken with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.
2. She is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.
Let's start with point number one, okay? As we continue on to read about the coming judgment of "MYSTERY BABYLON", we read:
Revelation 18:20
"Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her."
And, again:
Revelation 18:24
"And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth."
In this "great city" is found THE BLOOD OF PROPHETS, AND OF SAINTS, AND OF ALL THAT WERE SLAIN UPON THE EARTH, right? Well, ACCORDING TO JESUS CHRIST, there is only one "great city" that this could ever rightly be said about and that "great city" is JERUSALEM, for we read:
Luke 13:31-35
"The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected. Nevertheless I must walk today, and tomorrow, and the day following: FOR IT CANNOT BE THAT PROPHET PERISH OUT OF JERUSALEM. O JERUSALEM, JERUSALEM, WHICH KILLEST THE PROPHETS, AND STONEST THEM THAT ARE SENT UNTO THEE; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord."
Did you catch that? JESUS CHRIST said that IT CANNOT BE THAT A PROPHET PERISH OUT OF JERUSALEM and, yet, this is exactly what you and Walid would have us to believe by insisting that the woman is not Jerusalem. I'll stick with JESUS CHRIST. The BLOOD OF PROPHETS was found within "MYSTERY BABYLON" and THE BLOOD OF PROPHETS can only be shed IN JERUSALEM.
Matthew 23:34-39
"Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: THAT UPON YOU MAY COME ALL THE RIGHTEOUS BLOOD SHED UPON THE EARTH, FROM THE BLOOD OF RIGHTEOUS ABEL UNTO THE BLOOD OF ZACHARIAS SON OF BARACHIAS, WHOM YE SLEW BETWEEN THE TEMPLE AND THE ALTAR. Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. O JERUSALEM, JERUSALEM, THOU THAT KILLEST THE PROPHETS, AND STONEST THEM WHICH ARE SENT UNTO THEE, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord."
We've already read how that THE BLOOD OF ALL THAT WERE SLAIN UPON THE EARTH (Revelation 18:24) was found within "MYSTERY BABYLON" and now we read how JESUS CHRIST said that ALL THE RIGHTEOUS BLOOD SHED UPON THE EARTH, FROM THE BLOOD OF RIGHTEOUS ABEL UNTO THE BLOOD OF ZACHARIAS would come upon JERUSALEM. "MYSTERY BABYLON" is JERUSALEM...according to JESUS CHRIST.
But what about that "great city" or point number two? Well, let's take a quick look at that, shall we?
Revelation 11:1-8
"And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, AND MEASURE THE TEMPLE OF GOD, and the altar, and them that worship therein. But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: AND THE HOLY CITY shall they tread under foot forty and two months. And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. AND THEIR DEAD BODIES SHALL LIE IN THE STREET OF THE GREAT CITY, WHICH SPIRITUALLY IS CALLED SODOM AND EGYPT, WHERE ALSO OUR LORD WAS CRUCIFIED."
What do we know of this "great city"? Well, we know the following:
1. In it was found the temple of God.
2. It was also called the holy city.
3. It was SPIRITUALLY CALLED Sodom and Egypt...so it's no great wonder that it's also SPIRITUALLY CALLED "MYSTERY BABYLON", is it?
4. It is WHERE OUR LORD WAS CRUCIFIED.
Need I to explain? This "great city" could only be one city and that city is JERUSALEM.
I'll gladly go over every place in the book of Revelation where the terminology "that great city" is used, if need be. In every instance but one, it can be clearly shown that "that great city" is JERUSALEM. In the last instance, "that great city" is THE NEW JERUSALEM which comes down out of heaven to replace the old Jerusalem.
Anyhow, you've got some explaining to do if you're going to cling to your presently held position. As I've just shown, as it presently stands, you're in direct contrast to the teachings of Jesus Christ in relation to the true identlty of "the woman/harlot".
