There is one Lutheran "monastery" in the U.S. It's St. Augustine's House in Oxford, Michigan. It's more of a retreat center than a monastery in the traditional sense.

The SvK has been influenced by the arbetsgemenskapen Kyrklig Förnyelse (influenced of course by Fr Gunnar Rosendal's book "Kyrklig Förnyelse") and other High Church and Catholic movements.

I'm sure you would agree that the history of the SvK is nothing like the other Lutheran Churches (esp. the American Confessional churches this forum is mainly represented by) and to understand the rise in this movement you would have to know a lot about the history of the SvK. (Anyone interested in this should listen to the lecture "The Reformation in Sweden" found here.)

The SvK has produced some brilliant theologians. Anders Nygren, Gustav Aulen, Johan Almqvist and of course important to this topic, Bertil Gärtner.
