I said this before, but You still should believe you have found the truth in your own beliefs.  If you do this, there should be nothing wrong with that.  Thus, why are Christians a target here?  We doing nothing different than you except saying we agree that Jesus is the way, truth, and light of the world.

There is a difference from believeing in your heart that you have the truth and publicly claiming to have the absolute truth to the exclusion of all others and insisting that anyone who believes differently than you is wrong.

The former situation is a matter of faith, the latter is a matter of arrogance, discourtesy, and intolerance.

I have absolute beliefs, which lead me very strongly away from Christianity; moral absolutes. I believe that slavery is absolutely wrong, and the Bible says otherwise. I believe that slaughtering innocent children is absolutely wrong, and God did it.

When I watched the animated feature,  Prince of Egypt, I wept when Yahweh, the god of the Jews, slew the children in Egypt. (Remember he also slew any Jewish kids whose parents hadn't splashed blood above their front door - I think that fact gets too often forgotten) I wept for my people in slavery, but a god who claims to be omnipotent, yet chooses that act as the one that will save them from a Pharaoh whose heart that very god claimed to have purposely "hardened," is no god worth my worship.

And the Bible is full of such senseless killing. In Numbers 31:1-18, Moses gets mad at the Jews for not killing every Midianite, and so he orders them to kill every remaining woman and child except for the virgin females - who he gave to the killers.

Of course, I could go on, but I'm sure most of you know this blood-soaked book pretty well.

Gee lets see how many times did he just ASK to let my people go. What would have happened if Pharaoh did just let them go and not try to bring them back?  LOL.. And oh the Midianite were such God fearing people. You make it sound like the Midianite people did nothing to the Jews. Just look at America and what she has done to be where she is. And I guess it was Gods fault that Hitler killed millions of Jews? If your gona post something then post both sides not just one.

My point being that the book says that Yahweh "hardened Pharaoh's heart." As such, Yahweh is directly culpable for the horrific outcome when (if he is all powerful) he could certainly have organised a better, more humane outcome.

And oh the Midianite were such God fearing people. You make it sound like the Midianite people did nothing to the Jews. Just look at America and what she has done to be where she is.

So the Midianites deserved it? My point is that Yahweh promotes, encourages, and demands the sort of bloodthirsty vindictiveness that a flawed human ruler would. Re-read the story and tell me that this displays the superior wisdom that we should expect from an omnipotent, omniscient deity. Tell me that Yahweh is displaying traits that we should seek to emulate in order to make the world a better place.

And I guess it was Gods fault that Hitler killed millions of Jews?

Well, it certainly would have been a great opportunity for him to part the Red Sea or do something, anything to help deliver them from one of the most heinous chapters in recorded history. Why do you think he just watched?

If your gona post something then post both sides not just one.

What side did I not post? That Midianite babies deserved to be gutted because their parents didn't follow Yahweh? That a god ordering all the Midianite virgin girls (whose parents and infant brothers had all been slain before their eyes) into concubinage/sexual slavery is somehow actually a good idea?
