It's an English language issue, not Greek or Hebrew. The KJV of 1611 does not use the word "homosexual" to refer to same-sex relations, mainly because the word was not in use in 1611.

What is the original Greek anyway? Where NKJV says "homosexuals" and ESV "men who practice homosexuality" in 1 Corinthians 6:9, my Norwegian translation says "men who commit fornication with other men".

Here are a couple to choose from:
Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

9have ye not known that the unrighteous the reign of God shall not inherit? be not led astray; neither whoremongers, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor sodomites

Darby Translation (DARBY)

9Do ye not know that unrighteous [persons] shall not inherit [the] kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who make women of themselves, nor who abuse themselves with men,

Why is it there are questions about the plain meaning of the text? Looking for loopholes to crawl into. I don't get it.
Strong's Number: 733 Original Word arsenokoiteß
Transliterated Word Entry Arsenokoites Phonetic Spelling Parts of Speech ar-sen-ok-oy'-tace Noun Masculine Definition: one who lies with a male as with a female, sodomite, homosexual

I was studying and ran across this scripture that I believe describes what is happening perfectly.

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,19 because the thing which may be known of God is clearly revealed within them, for God revealed it to them. 20 For the unseen things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being realized by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, for them to be without excuse. 21 Because, knowing God, they did not glorify Him as God, neither were thankful. But they became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools
23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, and birds, and four-footed animals, and creeping things. 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves. 25 For they changed the truth of God into a lie, and they worshiped and served the created thing more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Hi Jon,

Part of the reason that some view Lutherans as antinomians is that some who go by the label Lutherans do indeed seem to be antinomians. Some are even universalists claiming that Jesus is not the only way to be saved. I know one pastor close to here that believes that.

As far as the law/gospel. If you've heard some Lutheran preaching by now you should be hearing that in the sermon. Because a preacher is not speaking to an individual but to a group, and because the status of the group cannot really be known, it is important that both the law and gospel are presented with the gospel dominating.

That Lutheran style of preaching is quite different from many other groups. Not all ministers follow it even if their seminary tried to teach them to do so.

Some really don't like the law, they find it uncomfortable, they don't like the conviction they feel, and so they eliminate it and focus solely on the gospel. This brings the problem of why should the unbeliever desire salvation if he doesn't realize he is a sinner in need of a savior?

Those who eliminate the law and basically seem to believe that the gospel saves all not rare.

Once you listen to good law/gospel preaching, it's pretty difficult to put up with anything else. I hope you have been lucky enough to find a congregation with a good law/gospel preacher.
