The men in the weight room make extremely weird noises when they lift weights. I have to control myself from giggling really loudly.

If you were lifting the heaviest weight you could do for no more than 6-8 reps - chances are you'd grunt too. There are some stupid gyms out there that discourage it (planet fitness) because they assosiate motive(showing off) with extreme exertion.

I work out at home and grunt loudly and even yell - and the only being to hear me is my cat. I can tell you - she's impressed. She only wishes she was human so she could jump my bones haha.

But seriously, grunting while lifting heavy weights (relative to that person, of course) is as natural as breathing hard after doing intense cardio.

I haven't gone to the gym the last two days cause I don't feel well. Not cause of working out but other things... it doesn't matter. Anyways, the other day I went and got very upset with all the guys using the equipment and not giving me a chance. I am not going to that gym that late ever again. Bunch of losers taking my time. Also, I lost some weight, and some of my shirts are getting a little big on me.

Hey an excuse to shop is an excuse to shop.

edit: they really are not losers. They are nice guys and all but come onnnnnnn how long can I wait for you to go, huff, puff...AHHHHH..???.

If you can go outside of the peak hours it's best. There's less demand on the equipment and you won't have to listen to wanna-be powerlifters shouting at the top of their lungs for attention.

It's my fault really. I do go when its not the peak hours, but the last few days I've gotten out of work really late, so I had no choice.

I'm just glad they don't like all the girly stuff I can use: ie. hips, legs, butt, etc. ^_^

But, I like to work out my arms. You have big muscles, and they are very nice, very, very nice indeed, now give a girl a chance to make her jiggly stuff go away.

You don't even need to go to the gym, Ethie :p.

Speaks the girl who says she has to lose weight! :p

Actually, I do. I need to tone up but besides that its making me feel good. So, I'm going to take anything that is giving me positive energy right now, and take out all the negative. :)

Yeah, that is cool. It is nice that you are doing something positive and gives you a natural high! Exercise is fun (I don't go gym though, just do walking).

trust me... she's NOT lying!
She definately walks FAR!!!

Walking is good exercise but like any exercise the body gets more efficient at it so changing it up (by increasing speed) will force the body to work harder. Doing alternatives (ie swimming and cycling) keeps the body fresh.

All you need is a bench and some dumbbells, the possibilities are close to limitless.

I realized after my first week at the new job that most of the people there make poor food choices and we don't get much exercise sitting in front of computers all day.
I'm not letting this job get to my waistline like it seems to for most of the people there.

Which means 2 things:
1) Remembering to exercise every day after work.
2) Packing healthy lunches instead of relying on prepackaged stuff.

I really don't feel comfortable posting my #'s, I hope that's ok.

Packing your own lunch is so important. When I worked full time I made sure I did it everyday. You save a lot of money and a lot of bad/empty calories that really are not good for you at all. Working out after work is hard but you can do it, you just have to keep the motivation. Good luck!

I'm doing an interesting exercise routine based on Physics. I'm moving around in a pool trying to cause the biggest waves. Waves are proof of energy being expended. So the more waves going, the bigger the energy burn. Also when it is too hot to walk, you can exercise in a pool.

Walking/Running in a pool is great on joints, a really important point for those who might have join trouble like arthritis. Like other cardio exercises measuring your intensity through your heartrate makes a huge difference. Try not to 'glide' through the water but look to get as much resistance as possible. You won't be moving as fast but you'll be working harder.

Just found out that over the past month I've gained about 5 pounds. -_-

It's very tough with my roommates to continually make healthy choices.

I think it's important to stick to a plan. I have friends who I see often that frequently offer me fattening and unhealthy food. So, as a result - I often eat before I go there and if I'm offered something I politely turn it down. This sometimes causes a little tension because the female of the house is always trying to feed people - which is good in the sense of hospitality - but I think she does this in part to ease her conscience on her own consumption of unhealthy things.

If you make some resolutions to yourself and stick with em, eventually your roommates will stop offering you things that you don't want to eat.
