Feelings of time wasted

Hello all,

I have a question, maybe other people have shared this dilemma.

In the past I have been very interested in art (painting and drawing), music (playing), video games, and the list goes on. However the past few months I have noticed I have been drifting away from such things and now I feel when I do these things that I am wasting time. I ask myself how is this furthering myself in my new walk? How are these things for the greater good?

Instead of doing those things, I feel like I am accomplishing something when I am reading about Christianity or learning from messages. It's strange, but only that goes so far as well. I feel like there is something more that I should be doing.

Thanks!

That's an interesting thought. But everyone needs a break every once in a while. I don't think it's a waste of time, you're doing something you enjoy and wouldn't God want that? As long as you're doing it in spare time and to entertain yourself - without causing harm or sinning. If you're sitting around playing or hobbying all day long, I'd probably say differently, but I am an avid reader (mystery novels) and I love the Wii and I do it to relax, I don't see a problem.

That is my little opinion though, I know everyone has very different takes. Best of luck finding what is right for YOU.

It's the Holy Spirit pushing you towards what God wants for your life. The thing you may want to investigate is how you can use your gifts (art and music, you mention) for the Kingdom? Can you - teach others to paint/draw (and grow in fellowship with your students), perform for your church, etc

The talents that you have (art and music) are gifts from God. You shouldn't ignore that or push it away. He gave it to you for a reason, if nothing more then for you to enjoy it. I would encourage you not to forsake them and try to get back into them. It's true that if you don't use it, you lose it. My grandmother died a year ago and I hadn't drawn a portrait since her death. When I went to draw something, it was difficult and way below my normal level.
