Isaiah 47 identifies the woman as Rome:
Isa 47:5"Sit in silence, go into darkness, Daughter of the Babylonians; no more will you be called queen of kingdoms.
Isa 47:6I was angry with my people and desecrated my inheritance; I gave them into your hand, and you showed them no mercy. Even on the aged you laid a very heavy yoke.
Rev 17:3Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.
If the agenda of those calling for a global government or New World Order (system of the beast) is:
(1) Dramatically reducing the population of the world.
(2) Promoting environmentalism.
(3) Establishing a world government.
(4) Promoting a new spirituality.
Do you really think that the highly influential Catholic Church is going to be OK with that?

"Woah!... Pope Benedict Rebukes Pelosi!
Pope Benedict XVI told U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi that Catholic politicians have a duty to protect life "at all stages of its development."
Life News reported:
It was only a slight embarrassment for the Speaker.
Obviously, what is important to Pelosi is her politics.
For Pelosi, politics trumps faith."

Life News reported:
VATICAN CITY, February 18, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Vatican Press Office released a note this morning detailing part of the conversation which Pope Benedict XVI had with Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Vatican insiders inform LifeSiteNews.com that such releases are always phrased in diplomatic language and thus the correction of the Speaker who fancies herself a faithful Catholic despite her abortion advocacy can be taken as a rebuke.
The text of the note reads: "His Holiness took the opportunity to speak of the requirements of the natural moral law and the Church's consistent teaching on the dignity of human life from conception to natural death which enjoin all Catholics, and especially legislators, jurists and those responsible for the common good of society, to work in cooperation with all men and women of good will in creating a just system of laws capable of protecting human life at all stages of its development."
Does Pelosi care? Probably not too much.

"Obama Administration, Vatican Clash Over Abortion
After President Obama ended a ban last week on federal funding to international groups that perform or promote abortions, he is taking heat from the Roman Catholic Church. "

Critics Accuse Pope of Stirring Anti-Gay Sentiment
"Gay rights groups, politicians and a prominent German theologian have criticized remarks made earlier this week by Pope Benedict XVI. They accuse him of attacking same-sex marriages and sex change operations.
Pope Benedict XVI has drawn sharp criticism in Europe for comments made in his end of the year address critical of people who choose to have sex changes or enter into same-sex marriages.
The pope claimed that "what is often expressed and signified with the word 'gender' leads to the human auto-emancipation from creation and the Creator. The human being wants to make himself on his own and to decide always and exclusively by himself about what concerns him.""
