This is directed to the non-believers.

Lets say that God came to earth today to show Himself to you and say who He is.
What would you want him to "prove" so you could accept that He is what He says He is.

Would you need that or would a physical apperance be enough? Would you be willing to throw out all that you have come to know as "fact" and replace it with a new way of thinking?
Would you be as outspoken as you are now about it?

Honest questions. Not baiting, just curious as to what sort of proof is being saught after.

Even though I am a believer and this is more of a general theology question, I'll give it a crack here.

There is no possible way to know if this person claiming to be God is telling the truth or not. You either have faith in this person or you do not.

No scientific or other human endeavor to collect knowledge is up to this task. This is why science does not even try to answer the God question, it has no tools that could even come close to confirming or denying anyone's claim on the subject.

I think if God appeared in any supernatural form or attendant with any supernatual circumstances people would write it off as George Bush having doctored the water supply to induce a mass hallucination in order to try and establish a Christian theocracy.
