To bad they cant change some other things like getting back the pets they had, drawing back all the good people that are seldom seen anymore, etc. Restoring th e armory, all little things but the ones that people liked. The list on the front page so you knew who was on;line. Little things that made the site different and special

Bill, one of those things i can answer...

the reason that they dropped the list of who's here was because it was taking a lot (like a mega lot) of energy from the servers keeping track of who was online and listing everyone. as a result it made the whole site run slower and made page loading more difficult.

we still have the list of who's online in the forums so it doesn't seem like a big empty room. and on the main page they still list the numbers, just not the individual names now.:)

Well that may have been the intention but I have to say that, at least for me, that hasn't been the case. More times than not this site is slower than it ever was in any previous time I have been here, especially today.

Today I have had to wait for pages to load and have even had posts lost after submittal. it's been just terrible today!

I have had that happen ever since I have been on the forum.

If I much of a post I copy it just in case. Then if "in case" happens I can paste it back and try again.

It's like the site wants to play games with you though. It sometimes works just fine and then all of a sudden, poof, it's just a drag.

So I do most of the time, if it's a long post, preview my post but sometimes when the site is running well I don't think to do that.

Like right now the pages and everything is running quite well for me. Then again, now that I just said that it will want to slow down now.

there are still some changes being made, Neph. i imagine it's when the things are being switched around is when you have experienced the slowness.
me too, but i just come back later and it's fine again. :)

but it's not just on this site that i have had the slowness today and yesterday. it's just like in real life--moving things around takes time and effort. it's the before and after that we appreciate.;)

I wish that if someone had a problem with one of your posts, that instead of crying to mummy straight away that they come to you first with their concern and then if the you don't listen they bring a witness (the CF team) like the bible. All this 'dobbing' behind the scenes, and you don't even know you've offended anyone until you get a warning or something then it's too late to fix it.

Hey P, is there anybody at CF that censors the ads here? I was just in another thread and noticed this ad for Extramax. It shows two people in bed together, odviously naked, and the man is winking and holding his thumb up. And it says, maximize her pleasure with extramax!

Do the people here at CF believe that is appropriate on a Christian website where young children, at least teenagers frequent?

Thanks for responding to my other concern.

The upgrade has done a lot more damage than good. This was apparent to me even before I left staff. The clocks can't be unwound, though, and all that can be done now is to work on the problems one at a time.

This may or may not be true. The life of any product or business it goes in circles. Those who are here now will say in the old days it was better. In a year, those who are there then will say this is better, and the pattern goes back to the beginning of time. Read about how Israel always looked back to the good old days, but when you read about the good old days they weren't that great. It is what it is, and you will never please everyone, nor will everyone embrace change. Sure mistakes were made, but they always are.

Well there are ways to determine. Has there been more or less down-time since the upgrade? A lot of the unique features that Erwin had created are gone or incompatible with the current system. A lot of the new features don't work properly. It's going to take a lot of time and work to rebuild CF to its former status.

to answer your question yes, there is. Send a Pm to LeeD.

in the Pm you need to include the forum where the ad was seen, and the URL of the website the ad directed you to. Hope this helps.

My question would be are they even interested indoing that or is it just another business now? The old features that drew and kept people are gone in many cases never to return so how can it be built up to its former? It cant and never will be until they are awillingh to bring back the features that made it what it was

I think they are. At least when I was on staff, returning the features that made CF unique was a huge priority. The problem was (probably still is) the techs have to rebuild those features because the code is lost or incompatible with the current version of vBulletin. That takes a lot of time and work on the tech's part. A lot of priority was also placed on reducing down-time and speeding up the servers, which put fun/unique features in a lower priority status.

Thanks for this Letalis, I guess time will tell whether the site will ever be its old self, has been about a year now so will be interesting to see what happens this year
