I am a mother of three and have a few friends who are also mothers, and we discussed this very topic. I don't know why single women are looked down upon by women who do have children, but it has to stop! Women, both with children and without must stand together and fight the issues that face all women. Sexual harrasment in the workplace is still prevelant and must be dealt with. I found this out first hand and believe me, its like being some kind of "thing" that men can degrade and humiliate whenever they want. It was like being kicked in the mud with no one to pull me out!
Those of you who are mothers, please stop yourselves from telling women who are not mothers:
a. how easy their lives are
b. how they don't know anything
c. how they don't know what it means to love someone
On top of having the crappiest EVER week at work, I find this email exchange between one of my staff members and several parishioners about how I don't know anything because I'm not a mother and how one day I'll see and I'm so cold and unloving because I said it's not appropriate to not take your school age children to Mass and just drop them off at CCD instead.
I'm a little touchy about it in the first place after attending a women's retreat where all my friends stood in the corner having their "I have a baby and you don't club" while I got to go be in a small group with a bunch of girls who just graduated from college but I am just so, so irritated right now. Why are women so horrible to each other?
