Well, I like both periods in the band's history - heck, I even like Calling All Stations (Ray Wilson was an excelent singer, BTW)!

But I prefer the 70's (and that includes the first two albums without Peter: A Trick of the Tail and Wind & Wuthering, which I love). In my opinion, Steve Hackett's absence (and not Phil's leading) was the real reason for the band changing their musical style.

Are there any other Billy Joel fans here, or am I the only one? I have lost track of how many times I have seen him in concert and am going to see him again on April 18th!

My wife and I are both Billy Joel fans, even though he's gotten kinda lame since he dropped the bad boy persona he had in the '80s.

Oh, well. Doesn't change the fact that my wife still has a huge crush on him.

"Prelue, the Angry Young Man" is one of his best songs, but my favorite has to be either "Say Goodbye to Hollywood" or "My Life." And yes, I do love "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" as well as "Vienna."

They say that these are not the best of times, but they're the only times I've known, And I believe there is a time for meditation in cathedrals of our own. Now I have seen that sad surrender in my lovers eye, and I can only stand apart and sympathize for we are always what our situation hands us, its either sadness or euphoria.
