wow! Millerod you might be.

I have found that I am a bit of everything. I think that really makes up the Body of Christ as a whole. I am totally open to all denominations for I have found that each of us hold valuable pieces of truth that will all come together one day. :) Even if those truths are outwardly expressed in different ways or even not believed or accepted by some.

For me the truth is that God is in all of us who love him. Love is what matters most. Being open to see that God is at work and can be seen in all denominations and yet not thinking that God is only limited to your 'box'.

The other day I realized that I am a nun. Not in the sense of the Catholic Church nuns are nuns and live and stay in the church mostly.. But in my heart. All things are a matter of the heart. I told God that I wanted to stay single and have no children so that I can serve him and be able to travel, etc on his mission.. So, in this sense, I guess I am a nun. It is all a matter of the heart even though our outward expression of it maybe totally different. God loves us all...

I am not a big fan of labels and putting any on myself. I don't even associate myself with any particular denomination at all. I just really like to be seen as a Child of God and a follower of Christ. :) But, if someone has a label for it...I will be all things to all men as Paul said..:)

 Hi ANM29

I like your post. thanks for sharing, and for having such an open heart. I always enjoy reading your posts :) I also believe that pieces of truth could be found in each denomination, and that God is active in each one. I do feel certain ones to be more detailed, or complete than others, in this way. However, I think that a Christian in any church could be a great follower of Christ and He really looks at the heart. I consider all Christians my brothers and sisters too...I find it really sad that there is so much division in the Body of Christ.

Also, I think God leads people to different churches because He knows where we all are and what we need...I am not a Protestant anymore, but I know that when I was one, that was God's will for me at the time. Now He is leading me someplace else because maybe I have changed.

I believe that God values love more than perfect understanding of doctrine, etc. If we as Christians love, that's how we know we are in Christ.

That is interesting that you say you are a nun. I can relate to you in some ways here.. I like simply focusing on God and being free to serve Him as He leads me.

God bless

Hi Monica:hug:

I always enjoyed reading your post as well. That is what I mean by being open to the 'new' in my other post...( in the other thread )..We have to be open to what God is doing in each of us and respect that even when it makes no sense to us.

I pray for unity, I want what God wants.....

It sure is refreshing to see this kind of fellowship:thumbsup:

Anm i guess what i am trying to say is.
i as you have always been, have been open to all things and would never allow myself to be boxed in by a set of beliefs but here is where i now am at.
100% of what God has taught me [and it has been the holy spirit and God who has taught me, I dont even use a bible with side notes in the margin LOL].
Sister everything within the doctrine of the Catholic church is what God has shown me i think why i can understand this is because God showed me so much through symbolic teaching and the Catholic Church uses so much symbolic teaching. I can look within a Catholic church and i see the insense burner and i know what it symbolicly stands for same with the candle sticks and on and on right down to why they wear the colors they wear. I can walk into a Catholic church and its like surrounding me with everything God has shown me as He has taught me.
Can i be a deciple without joining the Catholic Church, of coarse i can. But when i step through those doors and i see the symbolizm that surrounds me its like taking ALL the visions God has given me ALL the teachings from the Bible and just wraping them all into one place. I dont need it but i want it sister walking through those doors and setting through a service is like taking every thing every ounce of the knowledge and understanding God has given me and just dumping it all over me. Its refreshing and makes me feel whole. I didnt reach out to be a Deciple of the Catholic Church, God set me and my beliefs smack dab in the middle of it. It has taken seven years and hard study and guidence by the Holy Spirit and more visions than i can count but i am home i know beyound a doubt where God wants me to be. In every vision God gave me i was always wearing black and white i always knew what that meant but i wanted to deny it. Not anymore !!
I am Rod Miller a Deciple of Jesus Christ a member of the Body of Christ lead to the Catholic Church by the Holy Spirit. I am not yet but i will be a Catholic Priest i dont know how it will be possible considering i am 48 divorced and have tatoos on my face and my whole body. But on the day i was saved God made it clear i was to be with no woman and i have remained obident to God in this. And God himself has shown me that i will be a Catholic priest something i have been denying for seven years and something i no longer deny nor strugle with. I am home and i accept it. I am a Deciple of Jesus Christ and my beliefs are Catholic i am Catholic. Brother Rod

Hi millerrod,

I thank God for your love for Him and your being open to be discipled by the Lord and to follow where He has been leading. That is a true gift, to go where you do not even want to go! May God help us all to be able to be like that.

Jesus can and will help you to follow Him.

Wow! Just wow!........I can so relate to the being single thing. I am so fine with it, it is almost scary at times. This is an awesome post brother. God is such a BIG GOD and so not in the box many have put him in. I have come to understand a lot of the symbolism as well, I really have. There has been such huge divisions with Catholics and Protestants for so long, I am so glad to see God doing awesome and even weird things in some folks eyes to break down barriers and divisions and show that he God to us all.

Bless you Brother Rod.

If it is God's will and you are obeident to it you can be indeed.
48 years old... not a problem at all. :)
Tattoos...I am not sure there is anything going against you about them. Even if there were you could get them lasered off. :)
Divorced...you will need an annulment. Many rules on who can get and cannot get one. If you were not married by a priest there is a good chance you can get one. And there are other reasons they grant them. :)

I will praying for your journey to the Church.

I think I was lead here! I've been looking for a church since the small Pentecostal church I was attending moved to a huge new facility....it's a long story. The thing is, I stopped going to Catholic Church because I was worried that I might be doing the harlot of Babylon thing and I was upset about things going back to my Catholic school days. I just really miss the Mass. I miss the feeling that the story of Christ's crucifixion and rising from the dead in sacrifice for our sins gives to me, the feeling of belonging to a truly awesome God who loves us so much and who does not want even one soul to be lost to him. I just don't get that from other churches. I'm still just feeling really confused though. Am I burying my one talent by not going anywhere at all? Help from my brothers and sisters is needed!

Hi KatiesMommy! welcome to the forum!

I think it's alright to take some time to figure this out. Many people go through times of trying to figure out churches...I did! =) If you want to look into Catholicism, one thing I suggest is going to Catholic sources, because there is lots of anti-Catholic stuff out there...I've looked into a lot of it and it's all false. For example, if you hear "Catholics worship Mary", that's just a misunderstanding. etc. I've never found anything like that people say about Catholics to be really true to be honest. Even my old pastor (non denom), said some things about Catholics which I found evidence against. I think some people are just misinformed. About the harlot of babylon thing, oh I completely understand. There was a time when I wondered if that was true after all. I think the best thing to do is just to research and pray..prayer is so important here. Trust God to lead you, He will not lead you astray. Also, it's a good idea to keep reading the Bible during this time...I was surprised how much of Catholicism I found in the Bible! :) If you ever want sources, you can ask at OBOB, or here =)

But ultimately, just go where God leads you. That would always be the right thing. :) He has a plan! It's best to just stay open to His voice and keep on praying...

I think one thing you might enjoy is charismatic Mass. It has the Pentecostal elements you're used to but it's still Mass. There are also things like praise and worship Adoration, charismatic prayer groups, etc.

By the way, I used to be non denominational, then went back to my Eastern Orthodox church (from childhood), and recently I've decided to become Catholic. I'm very new lol. There are some really experienced people here though, who I'm sure could give you better advice.

God bless!

I will tell you.
It is much simpler than you realize.

Neither many Catholics nor many non-Catholic Christians realize this.

We (whoever) have no power to convert. Only the Holy Spirit convers. Only God can heal our blindness and our deafness. Not us, not a single Saint and not our Blessed Mother. Only the Holy Trinity.

He has converted you, my Brother. He has healed your spiritual blindness.
The next step is up to you.
GO!

GETERDUN!

lol...I think it is normal...For some reason, I feel more at ease with Catholics too than most Protestants......I never feel the need to debate with them and a need to defend them....

I can certainly relat to how you believe - it is a lot like I believe - I just do not want a label - I've had labels all my life - heard all the labels put down - I just dream of walking with Jesus hand in hand and think all the time of how Jesus really wants me to walk. So far I am not led in any direction but non-denominational.

Strange you speaking of being a nun, my friend was a nun and I went to her church with my husband for 11 years - she asked us to join her in the RCIA class and said I was there to help pray the spirit into that church.

She told me once I was her mentor - I laughed - and said you - a nun for 50 years telling me I was your mentor. That was really a compliment.

She knew the struggles I had with where to go to church and she told me that none of my objections were Biblical and were only about the man made rules and that I was ok with that.

I've been confused for years - all I know is I love Jesus with all my heart and only want to serve Him in the way He wants me to serve Him.
