Dakes Bible

I personally like Dakes and use that quite extensively

Like any commentary I do not accept it 100 per cent but it is very very good

yes, exactly. i don't care for mr. dake's book. it's about impossible to read the Word of God in it because the note's (mr. dake's opinions) constantly pull you away.

i don't recommend it for new believers at all.

Yes, the notes are copious and almost overwhelming.

In addition, some of their content is highly dubious. The main thing occurring to me at the moment is that he grossly misinterpreted the language and culture of the Bible so as to find it supporting racial segregation. But there are plenty of other errors.

Oh, yeah, I just remembered Anton Hein has an article about it.

In one bit he says.....a Baptism (Baptism in the Spirit) always comes with a filling, but a filling does nots always come with a Baptism.

I suppose he must liken a filling to regeneration ....I think.

Yeah the dude had some serious issues. I have one of his bibles . . . he had some seriously heretical issues.

Not sure . . . once I heard of the racism and occult practices I made sure to keep his stuff on the shelf.

way back in the 80's i got one of his Bibles. it seemed to me that the voice of the Holy Spirit shut down, almost, after i got this book.

i don't think it's right to let one man be the source of knowledge about the things of God. my problem with dake was not so much his doctrinal stances as it was/is just his attitude. he seems to me to be very overbearing in his "that's absolutley the way it is" stance. he seems to present himself as an ultimate authority - and i don't believe he is. the Holy Spirit is a much better Bible teacher than finis jennings dake.

I have a Dake's Bible on CD and have just rcently uninstalled it. I hardly ever used it and it wasn't very user friendly. I recently heard that his racist views have been removed from his Bible by his family estate who now have controlling interest in its publication. He did have some strange views on the nature of God, such as He has physical body parts, similar to those of the Mormons, except god is eternal. I personally have never used othe Dakes. J.O. says the Bible part is good so I'd trust his judgement on that.
