..it's that ol' gay priest issue again. Major Lutheran synod will most likely pass acceptance of gay priests indulging in "gay practice". Catholic and Lutheran bishops on the front page saying this makes relations "difficult", etc. Local Catholic bishop dissapointed by local Lutheran bishop's "aye" vote; says "he would have difficulty attending Lutheran service with a gay priest making a point out of being gay."

That last bit kind of raised a smile..but I'm just reporting here.

He also said that being gay is not a sin, but indulging in gay practice is.

Well, I'm not gay, but I respect those who are (within certain limits...this may be just a matter of taste). But it must be tough to work out where the lines go for "gay practice".

I think that the Church should concentrate ecumenicals relations with the Orthodox, and the more catholic frienly evangelicals. And buddists and orthodox jews among non christians.
Mainline protestant churches are going the way of the dodo anyways. They are commiting suicide in masse.
Bowing down to modern times have done nothing to increase church attendance and influence in the culture and is alienating most loyal believers.

I think holding hands is a bit too far, especially in relation to priests. Given their position and their vows, that in and of itself, would be scandalous.
Sorry, should have said "up to and including" not "past". I agree. Holding hands is also too much.
