What is this world coming to?? Duh?? I heard about two more in the U.S. this morning in the news. I work in a prison, and in my Dormitory I have just received a 16 year old kid who was charged with murder. He murdered two Catholic Priests, because they were molesting him. SICK, SICK, SICK. It really seems to be spreading fast.

I find this really sad. These men, I believe, are having sexual problems before they become Priests and hope that through works, as taught by the Catholic church, will let them escape or be healed from their proclivities. Then because they are not recieving the guidance and prayer they need, they fall and fall hard when they discover they cannot change by way of the route they chose.
Then of course, they always make it into the newspaper, as Satan
is sure of that, and it reflects upon the entire Christian community.
The secular media, which is nearly always against us, thrives on it. Which then makes our calling as disciples even more difficult and causes some, even some God has chosen to turn their backs
on Him. All they see is hippocrasy.

Hello faust,
Both acts I consider sickening. But frankly, it upsets me more that the two priests would take advantage of a 16 yr old kid. I'm not even sure that I would even blame the kid. You really can tell though, that these are the last days we are living in. It's hard to imagine that it will get any worse than it already is now, but it will.

Quick Question, I know some states, Calafornia comes to mind but I'm not sure, have passed or are trying to pass anti discrimination laws for homosexuals, does anyone know specifically if there are any states with such laws and if a congregation could get in trouble for firing a church leader who "comes out"?

This is terribly sad. There can never be an excuse for abusing children. I pray for the victims and the perpetrators, that they might both be healed.

I think it is also important to remember that this 'phenomenon' is not limited to the Catholic priesthood, or promulgated by it. I could post a 4-5 page list of Protestant ministers and preachers guilty of the same crimes. Pedophiles are pedophiles, whether they be priests, preachers, bankers, lawyers, daycare providers, teachers....you get the picture.

God bless...

Could you elaborate on this statement please? I'm not sure what you are trying to say, and I'd rather not put my foot in my mouth if I can help it. :)

God bless...

Personally, I do not think we should discriminate someone based on any criteria. Be it race, religion, sexual orientation or gender (or anything else for that matter). So for "anti-discrimination laws" or the advocacy of "hate crime" legislation, I have no objection. Now, with that said, I do not think that people who practice homosexuality should be allowed to marry for instance.

However, now... when you say "come out" do you mean that they say they are "sexually active with members of the same sex" or does this also mean that they are "attracted to members of the same sex, but because of their adherence to the Bible, they refrain from such sinful activity". I think there is a distinct difference, and while I think that they could be (and possibly should be if they refuse to change their activity) fired if they are the former, I think nothing is wrong with the latter.

We all have crosses we need to bear. For some, that cross might very well be the temptation to have homosexual relations. That some people strive to be eunuchs for the kingdom (for otherwise their sinful nature will damn them to hell if they give into it) I think is admirable. These people should be praised for their stance and encouraged to continue to walk with Christ. We should not turn their back on them because they are doing exactly what Christ has asked of them.

lisa.......

I know some states have laws or trying to have laws protecting homosexuals.. I live in MAryland and the Gov. signed into law a protection for Homosexuals - but the people of the State had enough protests to put the law to Ballet next year.. So the law couldn't go into effect. The Gov had a brother who died of aids and was homosexual.. HE thinks this law will stop the dieing......

I would think a church would be able to get around the law only because the CHurch and state division would come into play - since churches do not get Gov. funding - they do not have to accept a homosexual preaching from the pulpit...

Wayne,

Churches do get government funding in the form of tax shelters, and certain other protections. This is a hot topic in some states right now and precicely the reason a lot of anti-christians are pushing the government to step in and regulate church hiring practices.

Anytime the government gives you anything "for free", it is never really yours. They maintain the right to make sure you are using "it" as they feel you should.

homosexual priests? what has the world come to??

Well if they're practicing homosexuals, then may God have mercy on them. But if it's their cross to bear and they don't act it out, what's the problem? Sexual immorality is sexual immorality. I see no difference between a practicing homosexual and a heterosexual who sleeps with dozens of different women. It is all damnable fornication. How many preachers have extra-marital affairs? I would demand them to resign their post as well as a practicing homosexual priest resign his. A homosexual is called to abstinance, and if he is able to do it, praise God.

I go to a segregated parish--sinners only.

NYJ- is that the right name, I can't really read the letters, the font is all weird on my puter :)

anyway, I agree with you on the praticing/non praticing thing. There is a difference between someone who feels temptation and someone who embraces the temptation as good and natural.

Wayneh-

I'm in maryland too, the law I was talking about was in California. I have news though, the organization, Take Back Maryland, that was collecting the signatures to get the law on the ballot got enough signatures but they also got a lawsuit from the ACLU. The ACLU got them on a technacality and the law isn't going to the ballot now. It passed.

It makes me sick to think about it, we had 40,000+ signatures (which for those who don't know is a good % of our tiny state) it was more than enough to put it up to a vote, but because the petitioners passed the petitions around and didn't actually see each signature, even though the signatures were valid and approved by the state, the petition was thrown out. The people of Maryland want this bill to go to vote! What is the ACLU so afraid of? That the people might make themselves heard?!

its a classic example of a special intrest groups forcing their views on people who don't want them.
