I find it interesting in the Chick statement of faith, that the Bible, particularly the King James Version, is given a higher order of mention than the death and resurrection of the Son of God.

Yep, seems like idolatry to me...worshipping a book, not Jesus and His message of love!

How can you get Christ message without first beliveing in his Word??
I don't get it.
Do you listen to what Jack says, a Pastor says, Priest, Evengilist, and belive it?
The way I look at it, you GOT to belive the bible is true and is the Word of God before you accept Christ. Otherwise, Whom are you worshipping????
The person really is going by what man says about Gods Word, not truley accepting The bible for what it really is.
It is the truth, and beliving in it, and what it says (the Gospel) is what leads someone to salvation.
How does one recieve Christ message without it????

How did people believe the Gospel message before the New Testament was written, GEL?

By word of mouth. The Apostles told them about it.

Later, the message was written down. But the point is, you don't have to have a Bible to believe in Christ and accept the message of salvation. We have the same situation today in countries where missionaries are presenting Christ to people who can't read. What good is a Bible to them, when they can't read it?

Don't get me wrong; I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and this it contains the message of salvation. But it's the message itself, not the book, that is the important factor.

Peace,

We could apply this question to every single christian here on earth.  Just add your or my name.

We are all human and each of us will stand before God and answer for our own sins.  We will each stand and watch as some of our works burn up.  And some of our works will withstand the fire.

Hopefully, there will be more left than burnt

Me, too! In fact I just borrowed a bunch of my sister's old tapes---I'm in desperate need of a fix.

There's that scene in Werewolf, where half the actors were from Eastern Europe:

Male actor: We think it's some sort of a werewolf."

Female actor (incredulously): A wear-wolf?

Crow: No, weer. Weer! Say it!

:D

Or that scene in The Mole People, where the kid shows up with an artifact:

Scientist: Where did you get this?

Kid: Up on the mountain! High!

Crow, Mike, and Servo: Hi!

Kid: High!

Crow, Mike, and Servo: Hi!

Servo: Friendly kid!

Or that scene in The Final Sacrifice, where the teenager is looking at his father's gravestone:

Teenager: I wonder what happened to you.

Mike: Well, jeez, I died!

:D Ah, me. You have no idea how much I miss that program. :)

I remember reading one of his tracts. I think it was "this was your life". I remember because it frightened me so much. I wasen't going to church at the time and was living with my now husband. I didn't get saved though. I was reading a Hal Lindsey book a little while later and something in the book touched me so much i started weeping and i knelt down at that very moment on the floor and gave my heart to Jesus. I've never read the tract on catholics though.

Perhaps he forgot about not bearing false witness against his brother?

Some outright lies he spreads:

1. Catholic worship Mary
2. Catholics worship Saints
3. Catholics pray TO Mary
4. Catholic pray TO Saints
5. Catholics eat the "Death Cookie"
6. Catholics are not Christians
7. Jesus didn't set up the Catholic Church
8. The Catholic Church has conducted a holocaust against true Christians

If any of you are a victim of these hateful lies, I hope you come to discover what we really believe.

Thanks
I find that Jack Chick is very malign by certain people who do not know or even care to know what his heart is. The best advise is to visit his web site and read his statement of faith and what his heart towards catholics really is.

Here is Chick Publications

Statement of faith

We hold that the Bible, the Holy Word of a Holy God, was not only free from error in the originals (which have been lost for centuries) but also we believe God in His Singular providential care has KEPT HIS WORD all through the ages, right down to the present day as found in the King James Version. We consider this version our final and absolute authority, above and beyond all other authorities on earth.

God is one, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who are infinite in glory, wisdom, holiness, justice, power and love.

Jesus Christ is true man and God, who in His incarnation was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary. In His earthly ministry He lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. By the power of God, He was raised from the dead in the same body now glorified. He ascended into Heaven where, at the right hand of God, He continually makes intercession for us.

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son; regenerates the believing sinner; indwells, guides, instructs and empowers the believer for Godly living and service; comforts the children of God. The Holy Spirit guides and gives power to the church, the body of Christ, to fulfill the Great Commission, and convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.

Man was created in the image and likeness of God; but through the sin of Adam, man fell into sin and is, therefore, lost apart from Christ. Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Salvation is the gift of God and includes the forgiveness of sins, the imputation of the Righteousness of Jesus Christ, and the gift of eternal life. Union with the triune God provides all blessings in this life and the life hereafter. Salvation is received by faith alone, apart from all good works and merit.

The church is composed of all those regenerated by the Spirit of God by whom they have been baptized into one body of whom Christ is the head. The purpose of the church is to witness concerning Jesus Christ according to the Scriptures, and to preach the Gospel among all nations.

Jesus Christ will come again to receive unto Himself those who believe in Him, that where He is, they may be also. He will come again personally and visibly to establish His kingdom.

The resurrection of the believers will be unto eternal glory, and the resurrection of the unbelievers will be unto eternal punishment.

So if you speak Chinese, Spanish, or broken American English, you can't have God's best?

good point, Susan.

Jack Chick and his followers may mean well. I have a hard time thinking that anyone's goal in life is to sow seeds of division and discontent among God's people. But I also have a hard time remaining charitable when I see some of the outright lies which are passed around in his tracts.

I have been to his website and I know where his heart is.
It is by his fruits that I know him.
It is by his lies that I know him.

Wooooah!!! Wait. You are saying Catholic's do NOT pray to Mary? Nor to any saints? Interesting. I am learning something new all the time.

To whom are you speaking in the "Hail Mary" when you say, "pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death"? Or perhaps this is not considered a prayer. Maybe it is a matter of defining prayer.

I don't think of it as praying to Mary or to the saints. I talk to them and ask them to pray for me. Maybe talking to those in heaven sounds like I'm off my rocker but, oh well, it works for me. I believe they hear me and add their prayers to mine.

OK! I see. Then it is a matter of definition. Prayer is different from talking to one in Heaven.

I'm no theologian. But for me, there is a difference. I pray to God. I ask the saints to pray with me and for me.
