I have two banks, one back home that I got my first account through and have a car loan through, I also worked at this bank. There I have a savings account and a checking account, both are free. To avoid any fees on the savings account you have to keep a minimum of $100 in it, it doesn't matter in the checking, I also have overdraft protection through my savings account on my checking account.
My other bank is 5/3 and I like it too, I had to get this one since I moved into the town my college is in and started working. I needed some way to deposit pay checks and stuff like that. They have to option of free checking too, that's the account I have, I didn't get their savings account.
Most banks have a free checking and one that you can earn interest on, ones that draw interest have minimum balances you have to keep to avoid any fees. I think both banks have the small amount available until the check clears, it's just a safety thing for them.

For business purposes I like WaMu.
I'd use them for my personal checking account as well if I wasn't able to use BECU (Beoing Employees Credit Union; open to any Washington state resident, very highly recommended if you live here).

For savings I used to use ING Direct (4.50% APY) but now I use HSBC online (5.05% APY). $1 minimum to open, no fees, etc. And at 5.05% APY, they beat most CD rates (and your money is liquid--you can pull it out at any time without penalty unlike CDs).

I use Fidelity Bank for checking. It's just in Kansas and opened in Oklahoma recently. My sister works there and I got $50 for joining, so it's good for me. :p I also have a savings account with Boeing Wichita Credit Union that I haven't used anymore. I've also had two $500 loans from them.
