Legitimate atheist questions. Why are you bothering posting when all these questions are already debated in their forum? If you were really a Christian, you would be asking your preacher all of these "serious" questions of yours...... So spare me your "integrity talk".

God calls the shots of "when" something is incest. The first man was the posessor of DNA that we have never had a look at (some good it would do us if we could??!), and it was the DNA that would produce generations. Adam was originally created without the sin and death nature or disease that immediately exposed his physical body to death. How long did it take to wear down that first man??? 930 years before he finally died. Mankind has devolved from that point to less than 100 years to approximatly 70 years.

This is an interesting question though, I don ot believe that Adam and Eve are two literal people so the metraphocial incest is really not a literal issue, but for those who for some reason believe Adam and Eve to be the literal ancestors of humanity I would like to see how they reason this.

It's easy, MM - their DNA was perfect so there was no problem with reproducing. Contrary to evolution supporters, our DNA is becoming more and more corrupted, rather than more perfect.

Incest of various sorts was not declared against the law until the Mosaic covenant. It's right there in the Bible if anyone took the time to read it.

It's not incest til God says it is. The prohibition against marrying a close relative didn't come until Moses day. And then the law was only given to Israel. Remember too that Noah's wife gave birth to three different racial types. Rebekah did as well (two manner of people) So we might assume that Eve's reproductive system (ovaries) contained enough genetic diversity to insure against the damage usually associated with incestuous inbreeding.

If you stare at this verse long enough you can almost infer the diversity in Eve's ovaries.

And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

If their DNA was perfect then how come ours is not?

OK, so I assume your reading skills aren't the best, MM, but what part of "Contrary to evolution supporters, our DNA is becoming more and more corrupted, rather than more perfect" was that hard to understand.

I would say that first of all, God planned our DNA to have a certain shelf life and it's about run it's course. And second, it's becoming degraded due to sin and a foul environment.

What is meant by our DNA is becoming corrupted?

It was perfect - it's becoming degraded. We are subject to more genetic disease, more environmental disease which changes our DNA and gets passed on to our children. The effect hasn't been that large yet because we have the best medical system in the world.

Drugs can also alter DNA - and I mean both legal and illegal types of drugs.

American medical system is far from the best, but that is irrelevant. I still do not comprehend by what you mean when you say degrading. Is it physically changing, is this a process over many generations or does it occur within ones lifespan?

At the time of creation, the genetic line was pure. It wasn't until later, at the time of Moses, that incest was then forbidden as the genetic pool became less and less able to stand interbreeding.

God clearly does not condone incest.

Both. Our DNA is damaged by many things. MelaniaRose was right when she also pointed out that drugs can damage our DNA. While DNA can self-repair some damage, it cannot repair all damage and that damaged DNA gets passed onto the next generation which begins from a more degraded starting point.

You know, I really have to ask - if America disgusts you so much why are you even here? Why not return to the ME?
