I guess that largely depends. Yeah, this is one of those clearly defined things hehe. But no seriously, my main concern in this, would be the modelling industrys impact on your life. I don't know a great deal about it, but I had a couple of friends who were models, and both related stories about sleazy photographers. I'm not going to say these represent all experiences, but I think it is a risk you run.

Putting the industrys effects on your life aside, I would also question the type of modelling you wish to do. There are many different types, and I think lots are more acceptable, than others. Which are you interested in, if I may ask? Cosmetics, fashion walks, portraiture etc?

I honestly think this specific type of thing is something you need to spend time praying about....EVERY person deserves the right to be witnessed to, and you can be the one model that goes into the industry, and does a powerful outreach for God, and possibly win souls of other models/photograpers/ect. for Him...but at the same time, you dont want to be a hindrance to men and their salvation, or even yourself, because that industry can change ppl...However, keep in mind..that with or without you modeling, those men that would lust after you, would probably still lust after other women even if you weren't modeling. It's not up to you if they choose to lust, it's up to them. The Bible says in James 1:14- "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of HIS OWN lust, and enticed."

Whatever you do, do it unto God....but definitely pray about it, because there's alot of things in modeling that God might not want you to be involved in besides the "lust" part. As Christians we're bought with a price, so what we do with our bodies, etc. is up to Him, not us...so definitely pray about it, and wait on God.

Yah what Time4aChange said. Although I'd be careful how far you use the tagline,"If I wasn't doing it, someone else would."

If it's something you've wanted to do since a little kid, it means something to you. I know God means more so it has to be done in his will.

In my own personal views, I feel I'm one of the best video game players that ever lived. However, I no longer play all games with impunity. I won't play games where I'm a criminal or doing imoral things. I will play war games though.

So many things in life are on a gray scale. If you become famous, you can witness to a lot of people that you know Jesus is real and that he's Lord.

Edit: Even if you don't become famous, at least you're doing stuff and out of the house. So you can witness that way.

I think she is more worried about letting people take photos of her looking good, and having men fantasise about her. In this respect. For what it's worth, my thoughts are that it depends on the shots themselves. There are many that have women with a 'I want you' expression on their face, mouth hanging open, glossy lips and wearing little bits of string as a bikini. I would suggest steering clear of this kind of modelling. It's not broadcasting you in a good light, and it most certainly will lead men to thinking sexual thoughts. Whether those thoughts go anywhere are not important I don't think. Like the other posters mention, you could have an opportunity to set an example, as a Christian. If you embrace that, and stick to your guns about it, which no doubt will be extremely difficult given our current culture and world, then you can have a really positive impact. :)

That's the way I am thinking about now anyhow. I definitely don't think there is any reason against it, it really is simply a matter of your own motivations and how you offset the possible negative attributes of it. Actually, that's it. I think modelling will be awesome, but just make sure you guard yourself against possible compromises of Christian values. There are really obvious ones like doing work for adult magazines and so on, and then there are more subtle ones.

I think if you pray about it, you will now when something is wrong, as God will set off little alarm bells. :)

I have three friends that have worked professionally as models. Each of them said that they have had to be strong and refuse some work that they were being coerced into doing.

Inspire lust? Pretty women excite men whatever they are wearing as that is a built in reaction that God has given us. A scantily dressed model on a billboard or in a magazine can be extra exciting for men. A christian model would have to think that through carefully.

On the other hand, when I was at the deepest low in my life and struggling with depression, thoughts of suicide, and questioning God's existance, God used a painting of a girl to overwhelm me with the sense of beauty. As soon as I saw that awesome picture it was so obvious to me that such beauty could not exist without God. So I think that God used the painting of a beautiful model to save my faith and I never questioned his reality ever since. Natutally I have great respect for art models now!

Ever since I was a child I wanted to be a model, and its a strong desire for my future. Is modeling a sinful job since it can inspire lust from men?
But i've been so bent on becoming a model that it would be devastating for me to stop now.

Please tell me, what is the best choice?
Maybe the question you should be asking yourself is, "What is my motivation ?"

Is it vanity ? If so, then perhaps you should seek out a different career.

If that's really your dream, then it's probably a good career for you... you'll have a job which you're going to like very much :) And I don't see anything wrong with it... I doesn't harm anyone. So I think you should go for it :)

I don't think it's a sin at all. Women and men have to model the clothes so that the buyers will buy for the stores, and we all need clothes.

I would be less concerned with inspiring lust and more concerned with the attitude that inspires someone to pursue what amounts to a career in vanity. You don't exactly have to be an insider to know about the unhealthy nature of that profession, whether it's the wild parties or abuse of the body by becoming sick in order to maintain a certain weight. I would encourage you to consider a career with more dignity than to be used in photos to hawk consumer goods until sometime in your mid-20's you're told that you are too old.

If you have what it takes to be model, then by all means, go for it. That may be the most prestigious occupation that a woman can have! I think that carries more clout than someone being a Harvard grad.

Yes this was a concern of mine too. However I think it depends on what area of modelling she is invested in. Because there are several areas which do not require such ridiculous sacrifices for your body.

Everyone inspires lust. But that's an issue for the lust-er.

Keep your heart pure. Don't do things you feel are wrong or violate your conscience. Don't do nudity or lingere.

That should keep you where you need to be. And good Lord! Isn't that an arena that greatly needs a Christian influence???
