I'm interested in learning about Mozart's music, specifically in regards to sacred music. Does anyone have any pointers for where I should start? Any suggestions for CD's?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I was going to bring this up as well!Unfortunately I don't have any CD's but do plan on getting some in the future.
Last night in choir practice we sang his De Profundis...ABSOLUTELY PROFOUND AND SPECTACULAR PIECE OF MUSIC, that he wrote when he was 19.
It's amazing, when you break down the parts and have each part sing only theirs (sopranos, altos, tenors, bass), the lines are quite boring and unspectacular, but when you put them together, WOW! Truly de profundis (out of the depths, psalm 129 (130) depending on what translation).
I'm going to try and find a recording for you to listen to.
Thanks, but that doesn't sound like sacred music to me...but thanks for the suggestion! There are some great pieces Mozart wrote for Craft Freemasonry. Do a google search and you'll find quite a bit of interesting information on those pieces he specifically wrote for the Lodge.
Thanks, but that doesn't sound like sacred music to me...but thanks for the suggestion!
Where did you download them from? Thanks for all of the suggestions!
Here's which CD's I downloaded yesterday (I got 50 free songs):
- Handel: Sacred Arias

- Mozart: Symphonies 40 and 41
- Mozart: Requiem
