(AHN) - One church officially described the separation of several congregations in the US Anglican church from the national Episcopal church as a painful family struggle.

I totally don't blame them for separating. I wouldn't want to be a part of a church that approves of sin either.

Isn't this something? Truro is where George Washington and his father served as vestrymen. Now it will be a mission of a church based in Nigeria.

Lot of slurs are going to be thrown at this church in the Old Dominion but no one can accuse these southerners of racism.

The larger and more vocal wing of the Episcopal Church, he said, has drifted steadily towards a more secular view of the role of faith, the authority of the Bible and the personhood of Jesus.

Jesus warned that many would claim to be Christians, and He says, "Depart from Me. I never knew you."

How sweet it is to be a real Christian! To know for sure one's sins are forgiven, to be at peace with God, and to be happy in Him. Jesus says if a person is not bornagain, he/she will never experience/belong to God's Kingdom.

It's not a matter of treating individuals a certain way. It's a matter of what is most important in their lives, do they believe the bible and stand on faith, or do they change theological and doctrinal viewpoints based on what the world thinks it should be?

Which is of course why you won’t attend a church with anyone who is overweight.
Just because someone is overweight doesn't mean they are sinning.

This, to me, is further evidence of the weakening power of churches in the US. Christianity itself cant agree on anything so they splinter off. Instead of actually sitting down and ohhhh I dont know...working it out? They go "Well IM taking my ball and LEAVING!" It really does not look good to us un-believers. And after a while, there will be so many splinter groups and churches that they wont be able to wield political power anymore.

So all fat people are gluttons? What about those with metabolic/thyriod problems? Or those with disabilities that keep them from exercising?

This split came about because the of the doctrinal shift of the US Episcopal church within the last 50 years. It's not about splinter groups or not agreeing, it's about taking a stand for what you believe in.

Don't forget vanity, those women who try to look pretty in their make-up and nice clothes are probably sinning too.

Ahh yes one of the so called, "seven deadly sins", which has no meaning to me, nor is being "fat" against The Twelve Commandments, now what? Banning marriage for over weight people?

They won't.

Hope they enjoy being a part of a church whose Archbishop supports a law to imprison homosexuals for 5 years for eating together in a restaurant.

These are the people that some in this thread would prefer an historic church to associate with. Maybe we can take some hygiene tips from doctors in the middle ages while we are at it.

Pure backward-ness. Backward like running through a corn field backward is backward.

Steezie they didn't just leave the because of some minor change policy but over a serious change in church doctrine, and secondly the "well I'M taking my ball and LEAVING" agruement doesn't work here these churches obvisouly tried to work through this with main church body and couldn't which is why it took them so long to leave.

Are you saying Episcopals are not Christian?

I would love to answer this, but the rules explicitly forbid it. I always obey the rules.

If you want me to answer your question, perhaps you should suggest another forum. Send me a personal message.

I respect the CF rules and moderators and will not knowlingly violate the rules.

Merry Christmas!
