The surprising answer is that male homosexuality seems to run in family lines.

This may seem crazy, but then, no one presented with a description of sickle-cell anemia would think it could run in family lines, but it does.

I have struggled with an attraction to males since I was 6 or 7 years old and I don't know of anyone in my family who is a homosexual or a lesbian.

Tends to run in families doesn't mean it's always immediately visible; you can have three generations of brown-eyed folks and then a blue-eyed kid shows up.

The tendency isn't as strong as it is for some other traits, suggesting strongly that there's some chance component. It doesn't appear that there's any other really predictable traits, although there's some correlates ("older brothers", for instance). Curiously, so far as I know, there's absolutely nothing that correlates to the environment you grow up in; it's just blood relations.

Genetic or not, it isn't a choice people make to be attracted to males/females. As such, I see no way of saying the attraction itself is a sin. Now, as far as the action, Yeah, I'd say it's a sin, but it still shouldn't be legislated against. taking the Lord's name in vain is a sin, i still think people should be allowed to do it with no state sponsored penalty or unequal treatment.

The reason I said it was a joke is because homosexuals do not usually breed, if the future of the world was in their hands it would soon end.
lack of direct decent from an individual does not mean the trait for that lack of individual reproductive success won't be passed on. For example, the vast majority of bees are sterile by design yet this trait isn't selected against because communities of bees do better with a single queen. It would be possible that families prone to homosexuality would be selected for if the overall reproductive success of the family was higher due to their presence.

This would have no bearing as to the morality of the associated acts of course.

Homosexuality involving sex with a member of the same sex is a sin in the Bible. However, it isn't worse than telling a lie, okay.

I do not, however, believe that the government has the right to prohibit or restrict the behavior of two consenting adults in their own bedroom.

Homosexuality is a far worse sin that telling a lie.

Telling a lie is not an abomination: homosexuality is.

The only sins I can think of that might be worse than homosexuality are worshipping false gods and blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

It is the only sin in the New Testament where Paul tells us not even to eat with such a person. (1 Corinthians 5:10-13).

St Paul did not write Leviticus.

How does gay sex worship a fertlity God? Kind of misses the point of the fertility.

Where in the bible does it say its ok to have homosex as long as you are not doing it as part of worship to a Pagan God?

The same place where the Bible says it's OK to have homosex -- which is NOWHERE IN THE BIBLE!!!

Could you tell me where that is? I keep seeing people post it but have yet to find it.

What should be legal and what is morally right are entirely different. It is immoral for someone to swear and be abusive towards their co-workers but I am hardly going to suggest they get the death penalty (and this sort of behavior has more bearing on someone's life and mental health than homosexuality, which is an entirely personal act).

EDIT: I would also like to note that if there is going to be the execution of homosexuals, I will volunteer my death before any of them.

In March of 2006 I escalated a fight in Gwangnaru that resulted in a man being kicked in the head and punched several times, and since then I have also gotten drunk and spoken abusively at several people. I think that these actions merit a death penalty before homosexuality. To physically fight someone, even if it was to have been provoked, is a far graver crime than to engage in a personal sin.

Interesting... Doesn't the NT tell us to eat what is laid before us?

It also tells us Christians not to judge those outside the Church and to befriend non-believers. We are not supposed to sin with them, but be their friends and help them.

Homosexuality is a far worse sin that telling a lie.
I guess this is supposed to be a justification for what follows:

Telling a lie is not an abomination: homosexuality is.

The only sins I can think of that might be worse than homosexuality are worshipping false gods and blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

It is the only sin in the New Testament where Paul tells us not even to eat with such a person. (1 Corinthians 5:10-13).
Is your case so weak that you are reduced to blatant lying?

St Paul (NAB) said:
9 † I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people,
10 not at all referring to the immoral of this world or the greedy and robbers or idolaters; for you would then have to leave the world.
11 But I now write to you not to associate with anyone named a brother, if he is immoral, greedy, an idolater, a slanderer, a drunkard, or a robber, not even to eat with such a person.
12 For why should I be judging outsiders? Is it not your business to judge those within?
13 God will judge those outside. “Purge the evil person from your midst.”

http://www.christianforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=28397166#_ftn2
† [9–13] Paul here corrects a misunderstanding of his earlier directives against associating with immoral fellow Christians. He concedes the impossibility of avoiding contact with sinners in society at large but urges the Corinthians to maintain the inner purity of their own community.
No mention of homosexuality there, but it does mention the immoral in general, slanderers (lying), drunkards, robbers.

Sounds like another one of these predictions no one can verify which makes some people feel they're clever for saying it but it really doesn't say anything that makes sense.

Are you familiar with artificicial insemination, for instance?

Luke 10:8 is the verse you are referring to. it is part of the instructions to the 72 disciples/missionaries being sent out.

a more influential verse concerning clean/unclean food and people is found in the Peter and Cornelius story in Acts 10:1-33. these verses seem to address what a Christian response to outsiders should be. It also overrides the Levitical laws.
