You do realize that it's a minority of women having abortions that are in this age group? Most are 25 or older, even if passed, this does little or nothing. Making it illegal won't stop it either.

What would be nice is if the alleged pro-life groups actually helped provide things like education, birth control, aided adoption (or cannibalization) abstinance programs and that sort of thing, rather than just making things illegal.

You would thing that after hundreds of years of outlawing things, some people would figure out all you do is create outlaws.

I can see young girls running away from home and escaping to another state or back alley abortions. The problem with this issue is bad things can and will occur. However, a girl really should talk to her parents about this, unless they're abusive--then she should talk to someone who can change her situation.
What I am really trying to convey is that this will cause problems as well as solve the other ones people are concerned about.

You would think that pro-choice groups would be happy that under age, immature children can not take off without their parents choosing for them to do so... it is the parent's responsibility until they are adults ... right? Or don't pro-life groups believe in responsibility?

Going back to the "good ol' days" when this nation actually had states rights - robbing a bank wasn't a federal crime - the FBI couldn't go after them - so they made driving a stolen car across a state line a federal crime.

And if I rob your bank in Illinois, how was I to be prosecuted in Indiana, without the interstate flight laws? Race for the border... free (flee) from justice. This just gives local jurisdictions the right to have criminals prosecuted even when the criminals flee the jurisdiction or commit the crimes some place else..

The laws in this country make little sense these days or at least logical sense. A parent can be ordered to have the medical treatment for thier child that they don't think is best or risk having that child taken away.Yet a 15 year old can go and have possibly life threatening surgery(secondary infection does kill) and people get mad because most want parental consent.

Or maybe it's not all rights and just parental rights that are being completely thrown out the window.

Or maybe people hold having reproductive rights more dear than having the right to choose what cancer treatment one gets.

Really didn't read the post, did you? This is one of those "looks good on paper" restrictions, but really, it's not much of a restriction at all.

Besides, this restriction on abortion doesn't apply to me. I could get pregnant tomorrow and still get an abortion quite easily. But thanks for your pseudo-psychoanalysis of what I'm thinking.

Whatever the level of practical restrictions this law has is better than none. Like I posted earlier, if even one abortion is prevented then this is a good thing.

I think everone knows this restriction is limited in its scope to not include everyone. Are you planning on getting pregnant and having an abortion?

To use a conservative catch phrase, the term slippery slope comes to mind. The issue of incestual rape comes to mind also.

Which brings me back to my original point... That this is an uneffective law that is designed for vote pandering and show boating, that nobody really thinks will make any difference, but if it reinforces who's pro-choice and anti-abortion and wins a few votes for the anti-abortion crowd, who cares.

Time will speak to the law's effectiveness. I will say it again - it is better than nothing and it might stop some, if not many, abortions. If pro-life votes result this might spur our elected officials to pass more pro-life legislation.

Why? Planning on reporting me?

Not that it's any of your business, by the way, if I am pregnant or not or if I choose to abort my pregnancy or not....

You brought the subject up. You also took the time to find that link - perhaps you could report yourself - after all you did all of the research.
