Karenmarie, feel free to email me and I can help you get started in finding the right people to talk to about this. I've been able to help a number of people now and am getting pretty adept at pointing people in the right direction. My email is bonzobean@gmail.com I'll also be more than happy to answer any questions about my little guy.

thanks oregal. I think my first step is to get him a ped appt and tell them of my concerns, then i will take it from there. I hope that he is just a late talker. But he doesnt even point at things or anything. sigh. The thought of him possibly being autistic just blows my mind. My older son is Bipolar and Schizophrenic..i thought i was getting a break this time...

Don't fret too much. Many children with autism are high functioning and you'd never even realize there was an issue if it weren't for certain situations. Many high-functioning kids are mainstreamed at school and do quite well. Yes, the social issues can be taxing but there are many kids without autism who have issues. Talk to your ped but over the years, I've talked to many families who felt their ped's didn't really give alot of information and didn't really want to explore the possibility of autism. Our ped is great fortunately but we went both routes with EI and our ped and I really recommend both.

God bless you and your family.

So it's funny but oh, so gross!!! It helps me be patient when I think about
how amazing all the swirling, swishing loud water must look when you are a curious little boy under 3 feet tall. So, he takes any opportunity while he's dumping his potty into the toilet to go ahead and see if he can get away with swishing his chubbly little hand (up to the elbow, mind you) in the swirling water as it quickly disappears. YUCK! If that's not a motivator to bleach the toilet EVERY DAY, I don't know what is......!

LOL

This reminds me of a story my mother has told about when my oldest sister was a toddler. One day Mom was taking a nap on the couch, and her toddler came up to her and offered her a glass of water. It was so thoughtful, thought my mother, and it was even cool. After she drank it, she remembered that my sis couldn't reach the sink.

Toddlers and adults alike manage to live through the grossness of this delightful(?) exploratory age!

AAAACCCHHHHH!:sick::sick: I don't know if I would ever get over that one!!!
Gosh, aren't toddlers just a blast? (pulling hair out!!.....we need a smily for this one)
They sure keep you hopping......
And, my fear (yes, fear, or maybe is just deep gutwrenching disgust, I just get WAY too grossed out by these things, and I know my two year old is NOT grossed out, absolutely intrigued instead) of these types of incidences are exactly why I am my child's shadow!:crosseo:

Oh, the honesty of these little devils...I was snuggling in bed with Andie, she was laying with her head on my tummy...we were just talking about nothing, so I told her that I bet my tummy was nice & soft because I was getting fat! (my New Year's resolution AGAIN is to lose weight)....well, instead of saying something sweet like, "Oh mommy your tummy isn't fat at all!" she goes, "Well, WHY is your tummy SOOOO fat?" :D

^_^honesty.
gotta love 'em!

One of my favorite (most embarrassing moment for me and hubby) stories is my oldest, when she was 2, was eating dinner with us in our church community's cafeteria. A male senior citizen, who was quite stocky and had quite a large, round head, sat across from my daughter. She greets him with "Where's your big head? There's your big head! (pointing to his big head)".:o
Yeah. That was fun.

I have to admit that is one thing I like about newborn. You know where they are & they stay where you put them:D
My sis keeps saying six months is a good time, but just wait till you get to stage 2 years. I am going to start praying for grace!!!
I remember a snatch of it..My mom noticed I was missing but didn't know I could open the yard gate. She found me standing under our huge Tenessee Walker mare (that was tied by the garage) rubbing her belly. She tried not to panic and carefully walked over to her & talked to her & then reached down grabbed me & pulled me out from under the horse.
Mom still shakes her head over that one..... I was a busily little girl...& Im hoping it's not payback time when she turns 2:D

I love the age group of 7 months through about 2 years. They are such hams. My daughter is 20 months and used to be so quiet but now that she can talk is a jabber jaw. My son who is 8 months is learning to walk and make noises to get our attention. It is never boring/quiet at my house unless EVERYONE is asleep.

Oh, and when they are ill, with a fever, they are just SO cute and pitiful.
There's just something so precious about them when they are sick....
Droopy eyes, red cheeks.....
Maybe it's that they are SO dependent and needy at this time?
And they're so trusting in your care for them.
My little boy has a fever today, he's so cute....:) And pitiful:(.
