a dull ache deep inside
a longing, a need
a little hole that knows it will never be filled
no matter how full the heart

no matter how many things pile up
around the hole, hiding it
it will always be empty

it will always be there
though the piles confuse the viewer
making one think all is well
the one aching hole hides deep inside

one can feel its emptiness in moments of stillness
the hole realizes this and is content
for its destiny is to be unfilled

that little hole's been boarded up
forever to be an empty hurt
never to be remedied

it simply is and simply aches
simply longs and simply hurts
and is simply incomplete
for the one that completes it is gone
never to fill again

Blazes

Through the ozone

But inside
All is dark

I have made a commitment
A commitment which, years from now,
I shall wish I never made

And yet I have--earnestly, deeply
Within my soul-self--committed myself
To solidarity, to hope and love,
