blynn,

Sorry I am just getting back to you on this. No unfortunately, I never got up there. I got up to Manitou Springs, though. Lovely
place.
I also, made it to the Garden of the Gods. Fantastic red boulder formations. WOW. I attended Palmer HS in Colorado Springs and joined the choir. We got to sing there for Easter one year. Fantastic experience. I got a feeling llike no other there. If I had been saved, and understood the enormity of being saved, I am sure my experience would have at least doubled.

I also got up to the Great Divide. Talk about beautiful. To look out and see the silvery snow covering a vast expanse of what is truely majestic Rocky and I do mean Rocky Mountains peaking above the grey clouds. Gods imagination is boundless with beauty. Just amazing. I had never imagined I would ever see anything like it. It was so much greater than anything I had seen up to that time in my life. Looking back you really see Gods hand in all of that.

I lived in Colorado Springs for a while too. You described Pikes Peak beatifully!! Did you ever drive to the top? Did you ever go to the Garden of The Gods?

I'm going to have to get back there sometime. I really miss the beauty.

God Bless,
Roberta

I live in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Where the weather seems to change seasons in one day.
All I have to say is, this December and January hasn't been a summer... we have weird thunder storms and fantastic lightning happening, rains are pouring down hard - hard to drive.
But other than that of course we have those nice beautiful sunny days. Well, I guess it has been an ok summer afterall.
My house is a small house with a nice garden and lots of fruit trees, and we have nice next door neighbours. :D

I wanna go to visit USA too...!! :)

Wow, I must be the sole representative of the state of Indiana.
I live northeast of Indianapolis, home of the Indiana Pacers, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Indianapolis motor speedway. Indiana is flat with lots of corn and soybean fields.
This year we are having our third warmest winter ever, of course our warm is an average hi temp of 43 degrees (6 degrees for the rest of the world) and we have only had 5.5" of snow.

I live in a little town found in the east-central part of Kansas.

Its a quiet little spot with tree-lined streets that seem to bloom in glorious hues of pink, red and white in the Spring.
The people are just your honest hardworking never-met-a-stranger types you read about in books.
The best thing about living here is the scenery. There is nothing quite like taking a drive in the country seeing the farmer's fields in a riot of green, during the spring.....unless its taking a country drive during the Fall and staring in amazement at the orange, reds, and yellows of the leaves on the trees.

The summers are hot! Usually 110 in the shade, so you must have plenty of freshly brewed iced tea in your fridge. And if tea isnt your thing, you can always catch the ice-cream truck when it rolls onto your street.

The winters are cold, and downright frigid! Right now buzzes of chainsaws are filling the air as we are cleaning up from the ice storm that hit last week. Of course a little ice didnt keep us townspeople from hopping in the car driving around to see who had the most trees or power lines down in their yard. ;)

Some might label this sleepy little town as too "Mayberryish" or just another 'hick' town....but I call it home.

Hey Indy~ you aren't the only one from Indiana....

I live 2 hours north of Indy in a small town near Purdue University. In fact, I went to Purdue last year. This is a farm town and (unfortunately) a tourist town. We live in a small cottage on the lake here, its very nice. Mainly, it is just very flat in Indiana. When my little brother (who lives in Los Angeles) first came to visit in Indiana, the first question he asked as we were driving along was "What happened to the mountains?" That was cute (he was about 7). Lots o soybeans and cornfield

The weather is yucky in winter, normally lots of snow and ice, but this year has been pretty decent, actually. We actually had one day last week when it got up in the 60's (F). It is normally around -10- (-20) in January. VERRRRRY COLD! (and I hate cold).

Our town is pretty small, only about 7,000 people. but in the summer about 15,000.

I live in Northern California, about 180 miles from San Francisco; about 90 miles north of Sacramento. It is winter, but it's a very sunny day. This is a college town so there is lots of activity, but it's a great place to raise a family. I moved up here about 10 years ago from Southern Cal. to raise my two daughters. The summers are miserable, but the rest of the year is great.

Sounds like Monticello. I grew up near Frankfort, in fact I still go to church there, so I'm familiar with some of the town around Lafayette.
"What happened to the mountains?" -- I like that.

I once lived in Virginia. I was not impressed. The humidity during the summer was way too much. I do like the beaches one the east coast much more than the west coast though. Both are beautiful to look at. Where the sand on the west coast is a golden
yellow and the grains of sand are kind of rough and the water here is also pretty cold, on the east coast the sand is soft. The color is almost white and the water is much more invitingly warm.

I'm living in a little town; Larsmo, you can't even say it's a town, it's more lika a village;)...no. It has a population of 4.100. It consisra of some islands, so in the summer there's is more people whoa are at their summerhouses and so. It's common to ski In Larsmo, many sports-men comes actually from Larsmo. So we are very proud:) I like to be walking in the forest there, or maybe be paddling in the summers. The most people is in school in a town near to it, but we have a classes uo to high-school.

I didn't like to live there when I was a kid, I moved there when I was 8. But nowadays I love the place, but it's still too little for me. I will move out when I'm done with my education. We have a high standard of living, with low taxes and like that but it's more like a place to grow up in, not to live in. But I will always come back sometimes!

:p Grand Rapids Minnesota is in the northern part of the state, located in Itasca county. Itasca county has about 1000 lakes.

Lots of great fishing, water skiiing, and ice fishing.

This is also timber country. Good for hunting and nature walks, great parks etc.

Because of all the timber, the main industry is forest related. Grand Rapids has a paper mill in town, and a particly board plant just outside of town. It seems like most of the people I know work at one of those plants or for the DNR.

Lots of good shopping and restaurants as well. So come up and see us some time.

Hey Indy - you've got a neighbor :)

I'm from central Illinois. My house is literally surrounded by cornfields (or soybean fields, depending on the year). The town I'm from has about 7000 people, but it sometimes feels like a much smaller place - everyone knows everybody, pretty much. There's not too much to see, but I like it anyway. There's a couple of lakes nearby, one of them is part of a state park with lots of trails and places to picnic and stuff like that. My favorite part is that almost anywhere you go, if it's a clear night, you can see all the stars in the sky. (of course, my favorite thing to do anywhere is look at the sky). Right now, I'm going to college in a slightly bigger town (about 20000 people), an hour and a half from home.

Really, the only way I would want to move away from here would be to move somewhere in the mountains. (Looking at the mountains ranks up there with stargazing for me :) ) I've been to the Appalachians and the Ozarks, and over Christmas break I went through New Mexico. I'd love to see Colorado someday too, cause I've yet to see snow-covered mountains anywhere :)

My goodness...Indy has many neighbors :) :)

I also live in the state of Indiana. Elkhart, Indiana that is. East of Southbend and Notre Dame.

I moved here 18 months ago from Austin, Texas. What a culture shock!! It was very hard at first not having "bigger city" things available to me, but I have survived. And survived two of the craziest winters. Last year was the record snow fall winter (I was ready to move back south) and this year was the warm weather winter...ahhhh...and then the ICE STORM that shut my electricity off for 3 days.

I must admit though that I am being converted to the simple way of life that is very 'normal' around here.

The food...now that's a different story. I don't know if it's the Amish influence here, but the food is a little on the bland side. I have saved a load of money by not eating out. But we just got a Texas Roadhouse and I have already put a dent in that saved $$$$.

I'm a Wisconsinite too. I live in a suburb of Milwaukee. Our house is the oldest one in the neighborhood. It was once the farmhouse of an apple orchard. Now we are surrounded by modern houses, 3 schools are within a mile of us. We have a great mall about 5 minutes away.

Milwaukee's pretty nice. It's a large city but it's not so huge that you get overwhelmed.
