  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Differing beliefs in marriage causing serious problems - help!

unkern: In regards to your comment about showing her I'm happier, I don't think this has anything to do with the kind of person I am with or without my beliefs. She just wants me to believe what she does, simple as that. And she won't put any stock in me being the head if I'm not a "Biblical...

Differing beliefs in marriage causing serious problems - help!

Hi, I haven't participated here for a while but have hit quite a snag with my wife and would like any and all feedback please. Sorry it's a bit long, but I'd really appreciate your time. Some background. I've been married 4.5 years. I became a Christian about 9 years ago. When my now-wife and I...

    Jesus and the gospel...?

So you're saying that he would have been explaining to them about his future death and resurrection? If so, why was he being so hush hush about it with his disciples? If not, what reason could he give for his claims?

    Jesus and the gospel...?

These are all very generic answers. But I want the guts of actually what he was preaching! I'm sure he didn't just go in there and say literally "me!" or "the kingdom of God!", clearly not. That's not really a message! If something about this was "good news", what was it? What made this...

    Jesus and the gospel...?

Well ok, then what precisely was the "good news" he was proclaiming? There must be some specific message that he was giving distinct from his other usual teaching about different topics -if that were the case it would have just said "teaching". Whatever the specific message was called, I want...

    Jesus and the gospel...?

I was reading through Luke the other day and came across this verse: Luke 20 1One day as he [Jesus] was teaching the people in the temple courts and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, together with the elders, came up to him. My question is this: what...

    For the optically challenged

Ok, if you're an anti-private health insurance person, forget about that and you're still left with 2 pairs of glasses for $180 which is a great deal. (and for the record, with everything else we claim from private health insurance, for us it definitely is worth it)

    Any Five Iron Frenzy Fans?

Best band ever. Love them to death (hence my username). How could I have waited until they broke up before getting into them! Oh the irony. I'm a BSS and Roper fan too, but they pale in comparison to FIF. The 3-song EP you're referring to is Guerilla Rodeo. It's not bad.

    For the optically challenged

I just had to share a great deal I managed to score recently. Because as Jimeoin wisely postulated, it's not a bargain until you tell someone about it. I wear glasses and my old glasses were getting pretty worn. I got my eyes tested at my normal optometrist, but there was no change in my...

    The Switchfoot Oh! Gravity Thread...

Learning To Breathe > Oh! Gravity > New Way To Be Human > Nothing Is Sound > The Beautiful Letdown. (Haven't heard The Legend Of Chin) I like them all. I just find NIS and TBL to be nothing special, a bit to "standard rock" except for a few tracks each. Oh! Gravity pleasantly surprised me...

    Underoath (RIP)

UnderOATH has been 10x better since Dallas left. Can't stand their old metal stuff, the hardcore stuff since "...Safety" is awesome.

    Christian CD swap

Anybody want to swap some of their old Christian CD's? I have a few that I want to get rid of...if you're interested, I'm willing to trade for some of your unwanted albums. Please post in this thread stuff that you're willing to part with. As for me: Steve Curtis Chapman - Declaration Bunch...

    BEST CD's OF 2006...

UnderOATH's Define The Great Line is my best of 2006 and IMHO the most solid hardcore album ever.

    Advice for a fitness n00b?

So if I don't run, what's another good way to work on my overall fitness? Getting a bench press set isn't really an option for me (well, at least for the moment). What exercises can I do to work on my chest with just my dumb bells? What do I do to work on my abs? Sit ups, I assume - what...

    Advice for a fitness n00b?

Hi. I am a total n00b when it comes to anything to do with fitness, but I wanna work on my body shape (for my wife's benefit ;-)) so I was wondering if I could lay out my situation and get some advice from you guys. I'm 23, 193cm (6'4") and weigh 80kg. Basically this makes me tall and lanky...
