  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    protein shakes

Whey and Casein are from milk and Ovalbumin from eggs. The best proteins (by biological value which is a measurement of our ability to uptake the protein's constituent amino acids) come from milk and eggs, then meat, then vegtables. Whey powder is cheap, has the highest biological value of any...

Starbucks Switches to 2 Percent Milk.

In my opinion, with the variety of foods modern people eat and the use of multivitamins the macronutrient ratios are more important than the loss of some nutrients. At over 50% fat by calories, whole milk hurts the average person get a balanced diet. Milk is low-GI, has 2 of the best proteins...

    Teen weight loss

Keep pushing weights after you lose the weight. Lifting weights >> Cardio Seeing fast results by dramatically cutting calories might keep him from falling off the bandwagon.

    Teen weight loss

Push weights and don't eat much food. Do both seriously and you can lose 1/2 lb a day. I've lost weight very fast before and never ended up with no metabolism like you hear (I need about 3500+ calories a day to maintain fat levels, though I've been lifting for a little while). Cardio is...

    Ab Exercise Question

Muscles always work by contracting. When you have the dumbbell in one hand and let it down your side for the starting position, the oblique on your opposite side will be stretched. You then pull the dumbbell up by contracting that opposite side. Go heavy (maybe about 40 pounds for a starting...

Need to lose a bit of weight

    1) Lift weights. If you do compound lifting with any intensity, it's a form of cardio IMO. Plus the muscle will help you burn more calories now and for as long as you keep it. Plus you'll look better. Plus it's just nice to be strong. 2) Don't eat too much and don't eat refined sugars. Milk and...

Confused about the best excercise/eating plan?

A lot of bodybuilders (including many, probably most, pros) take both whey protein and very simple sugars post-workout (such as dextrin or maltodextrin.) Weight lifting is very catabolic (i.e. destructive) and the idea behind this is to shuttle amino acids (from the whey protein) and glucose...

    Ab Exercise Question

Sounds like it might be your obliques (on the sides of your abs) and not your abs. Is is uneven on the far side of your torso? If so, then heavy weighted side bends would probably be your best bet. http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/Obliques/DBSideBend.html Remember you're working the...

"You can do side-bends or sit-ups, but please don't lose that butt!"

First, and I don't want to start a fight, but I don't think Spoon would appreciate being called a kid. He's a man. Moving on, it's widely held that there are no mass builders like squat (and deadlift). I would strongly recommend deep squats (I find deep squats work the glutes to exhaustion...

"You can do side-bends or sit-ups, but please don't lose that butt!"

Side bends and sit-ups will do as much or as little for your rear end as your stomach... because... you can't spot fat reduce. I'd say you're out of luck.

    Calories and Muscle Building.

I started going to the gym a few weeks ago, and have gotten a little over 10% stronger while losing fat (can see more definition and veins in the mirror, and scale is about the same to within a pound or two though I'm getting more muscle weight.) How both? I suppose my body is building muscle...

Study says Atkins diet works best

For the same reason a lot of people can't make meaningful, substanciated posts: it's a little harder. That's just a straw-man argument. Atkins taken too far would be too many good and reasonably good sources of protein and fat at the expense of almost 0 carbs--not pork rinds and buttered bacon.

Diffrent types of muscel mass ????

The conventional wisdom is... Low reps for the most strength and lots of muscle gain Medium reps (8-12) for the most muscle gain and lots of strength High reps 15+ for muscular endurance and weight loss--but not so much in the way of muscle and strength. For example, Arnold Schwarzeneggar did...

    does anyone drink whey protein????

While I agree that the fast digesting nature of whey can sometimes work against you (this fast digesting, conversely, is why we agree it must be taken post-workout), the difference between how much protein a food has and how much of the protein is used to build muscle cannot be overlooked...

    Women's Chocolate Whey Protein Powder

Granted, but the convenience of shaking up a meal can't be underscored. I'd also argue that when you first wake up it's particularly useful to get some fast digesting whey because your body has been without food for some time (about 7 hours for me since I eat before bed, but 12 hours for some...
