  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Where I Belong...?

Thanks Enigma, that was a cool response. As for the question....I found the answer to it. "'Cause I don't care where I belong no more What we share or not I will ignore And I won't waste my time fitting in 'Cause I don't think contrast is a sin" ~No Cigar, Millencolin, 2001 There ya go...

    The Brutal Stand of Non-Violence

"Pacifism is a shifty doctrine under which a man accepts the benefits of the social group without being willing to pay--and claims a halo for his dishonesty." ~Robert A. Heinlein Thoughts?

    Where I Belong...?

Hm. I'm in a bit of an interesting situation as I spend more time here (CF, I mean). I don't know where I belong. I started out in the Liberal section...because as far as I knew, I was a liberal Christian. As I read through the threads and turned things over in my own head, however, I began...

    Favorite Sci-Fi Author

SF is generally seen as plausible, consistent speculative fiction. Fantasy does not fall under this umbrella, and neither does Horror (although a fantasy or horror story can be made plausible, in which case it would be possible to claim it as SF as well as fantasy/horror/etc). The key word...

Using the "I Love You" term

I do that, and I mean it every time...I don't know the reasoning behind it for everyone, but for me, at least, the reason for me telling my fiancee that I love her when I say goodbye is that you never know what could happen in the hours/days/weeks/etc. until you see them again. Just yesterday...

    imagine by john lennon

Thank you for being the voice of reason. Cool it, people, seriously, this kind of thing is what really turns people off to Christ.... Why not take the approach instead that Lennon had some wonderful ideas, and it was great that he had such hope and optimism, but he was a little misguided and...

    Ohmigosh!!!

lol, I bet. I think we'll do okay, though. Her family (6 people!) is getting by on about $24k a year right now, and the way I figure, if six people can get by on $24k, two can get by on 30. *smile* Just happy for the blessings I have, why wish for the ones I haven't got? :P

Using the "I Love You" term

Interesting point....my fiancee and I were both raised by mothers who taught us to tell the ones we loved at every opportunity, because we never knew when or how we might lose them. However, I have to agree with your point. Strangely enough, this was probably one of the things that hurt my...

    Ohmigosh!!!

I just realized this....I was reading another thread that inspired me to do some calculations concerning my current budget, my fiancee's current budget, and what our budget will be when we get married. The results? Assuming I don't get any raises, pick up any other jobs, or start working more...

Why do people feel that they have the right to be so nasty to liberal Christians?

Pardon me for interpreting, but I believe what he meant (please do correct me if I'm wrong) was someone who believes that 100% of the Bible was 100% true, with no metaphors, similes, or other literary/linquistic devices of any sort - 100% solid literal truth. Am I close?

    Changing Your Name

*nod* agreed. I thought the changing one's name thing was interesting, as I'm doing the same thing - I'll be legally changing mine in the months to come - her family already knows me as (the name I'll be taking), and most of my friends call me by my last name, which probably won't be changing...

    Hi?

lol, thanks for all the enthusiastic welcomes. As for being shy, I usually am when I first join a forum, I tend to lurk a lot and not post much...but that may change with time. I dunno, my schedule is pretty killer. :P lol, thanks for all the welcomes, though!
