  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What Does it Take to Receive Eternal Life (Lessons from the Rich Young Ruler)?

SCRIPTURE: Once a religious leader asked Jesus this question: “Good Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?” “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked him. “Only God is truly good. But to answer your question, you know the commandments: ‘You must not commit adultery. You must not murder...

    Lessons from the Ten Lepers

SCRIPTURE: As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria. As he entered a village there, ten men with leprosy stood at a distance, crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as...

The ten lepers: Luke and Samaritans

In the manifold wisdom of God, I believe the key lessons here are as follows: If you keep quiet, your problems will consume you. The lepers cried out! Cry out to God, and reach out to brethren when necessary. Don't suffer in silence. A sealed lip is a sealed destiny. It's important to keep in...

The Father's Heart: Understanding the parables of the lost sheep, lost coin and prodigal son

SCRIPTURES: Luke 15.1-32 LESSON: The parables mentioned here are all about the same thing: the deep desire of the Father's heart for all of humanity, regardless of race, religion, or belief system. He yearns for the salvation of humanity from the destructive path we have chosen through the use...

What's the Fuse About Fasting All About?

Hey, Maria. Your question is a great one. I think the idea that fasting and praying are necessary to drive out certain demons stems from the story of the boy with the unclean spirit in Matthew 17. Andrew Womack discussed this and after re-reading the scripture, his explanation made sense. To...

Why do Bad Things Happen to God's People?

SCRIPTURE: 'He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall...

    The Cost of Discipleship

SCRIPTURE: 'As they were walking along, someone said to Jesus, “I will follow you wherever you go.” But Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.” He said to another person, “Come, follow me.” The man agreed, but he...

What's the Fuse About Fasting All About?

What exactly does it entail to break the chains of wickedness, untie the ropes of the yoke, and set the oppressed free? It goes beyond just constructing schools and hospitals or giving out food packs. It involves praying for the release of the anointing that breaks the yokes of bondage to...

    Why did Jesus Pray?

SCRIPTURE: 'One day Jesus left the crowds to pray alone. Only his disciples were with him, and he asked them, “Who do people say I am?” … About eight days later Jesus took Peter, John, and James up on a mountain to pray. And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was transformed, and his...

    The Philadelphia Church

SCRIPTURE: I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them...

    What is "Your First Love?"

SCRIPTURE: 'But I have this against you: you have abandoned the passionate love you had for me at the beginning. Think about how far you have fallen! Repent and do the works of love you did at first. I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place of influence if you do not repent. '...

What's the Fuse About Fasting All About?

SCRIPTURE: One day some people said to Jesus, “John the Baptist’s disciples fast and pray regularly, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees. Why are your disciples always eating and drinking?” Jesus responded, “Do wedding guests fast while celebrating with the groom? Of course not. But someday...

    God’s Two Unchangeable Things

Great piece. Thanks! It is important for us as Christians to keep our focus on the Lord Jesus, the Author, and Finisher of our faith, not Abraham. Even Abraham demonstrated to us, through his exemplary life, how to keep our focus on the Lord Jesus. Therefore, what binds us together as one...

    Stars forever!

    God's forknowledge and predistinaiton

Just to give some additional clarity, God predestines the circumstances in which people will enter and experience His designs, much like a programmer will write codes and set parameters to control how things will go (God is the greatest programmer). Now it is up to us to choose (by the exercise...
